June 14th

The Wyatts came out for the parade alongside the Gallows clan, wearing rainbow shades in celebration of the fact that love is love.

For talent night, six-year-old Addie insisted on entering to perform a short aerial silk dance routine, complete with minor fumbles and an anxious Raven standing just off stage until the very end to make sure her daughter didn't hurt herself.

Riding high from the previous day's performance, Addie insisted on going to the Pride Circus Day so Raven and Henry took both girls to watch. Though Adelaide was still several years away from being able to join the 'big kid' circus classes at RCPA, she soaked it all up like a sponge, watching wide eyed alongside her baby sister as the aerialists and acrobats put on a show.

No strangers to Thunder Road Drive In, in matching rainbow pajamas, the younger girls stuck to screen 2 for Brave and Toy Story while Henry and Raven enjoyed Howl's Moving Castle and Cowboy Bebop on screen 3.

Henry and Raven enjoyed a date night out at the races where they ate, drank, and made saucy bets between the two of them about who would win each race.

And finally: The Demolition Derby! With the Bi-Furious team clearing the field, large water trucks came out onto the tarmac and began to barf rainbow colored suds over the track. But not just following the Oval, oh no. The track was transformed into a figure 8. Unlike a toy race track of yore, one side did not go over the other. No. There was a no-mans land directly between the two crossed roads.

Forty drivers pulled out onto the outer oval. It was a horrorshow of hotrods, a terror of trucks and a largess of land yachts. Two fork lifts lumbered into place on either side of the cross roads in the middle of the track.

Pharlen sat in the announcer’s booth, serenely watching the show. But then. She frowned and leaned forward. She pulled the microphone to her.

“DILLON!” She boomed, the sound echoing around the speedway, “I said NO Military Vehicles!”

Dillon gestured up at her, innocent, and gosh, he didn’t have any way to contact her in return. He lovingly patted his Volkswagon Kombi Bus’s door. It was CLEARLY a Volkswagon Kombi, painted a lovely shade of sky blue and covered with peace signs and flowers. He had no idea what Pharlen was talking about.

The fact that it was just as clearly a M-13 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage was of no matter. The paint job said hippy van. And while it DID have multiple guns mounted on the back of the brute, those were just to fire happy t-shirts to the happy crowd. Dillon beamed and demonstrated: A press of a button and four t-shirts went sailing into the crowd. All of them had photos of Dillon’s ‘Hippy Kombi’ on a rainbow tye dye base.

“NO Military vehicles, Dillon!” Pharlen persisted. The crowd booed. Dillon pulled half out of the M-13 and appealed to the crowd. The Salt of the Earth. His People. They promptly began to cheer, then chant…

“DIL-LON! DIL-LON! DIL-LON!”

Pharlen face palmed.

“He will be INSUFFERABLE after this! But never let it be said that I don’t know when I’m beat! Drivers! Start your engines! Healers! Get Prepped Now!”

The crowd roared gleefully. Pharlen leaned back to the mic.

“You know the rules, there are no rules! Hit the 8 or puss out, brave the fork lifts or flee with your radiator between your legs! Last Car Rolling Wins! Ready! Steady! GO!”
And they were off…
