The traffic in and out of the Temple worried me. Too many strangers coming in seeking audiences with Sister Lily, and making very strange requests.

I sat in my room for some time after the envoy and his sister had arrived, seeking an audience with Sister Lily.

Perhaps it was time to return to the orphanage. But fear kept me sitting on my bed. Someone had tried to kill me with poison, and so far no one had been apprehended.

The accidental meeting with my birth mother had gone badly as well. They told me of my father's return, and Dimitri had confirmed it. But I do not want to know the man. He was dead. Only foul sorcery would raise the dead, and anyone who would raise the dead was not someone I wanted to know.
