Like a North Star, Isaac felt in his bones that he would always and forever navigate his life by his lover’s light.

This beautiful line from Isaac's writer was given to me last night on the heels of my reading this heady quote from Beau Taplin, and together they reminded me of some lyrics that are pretty damn perfect for these two.

'Cause when you unfold me and tell me you love me
And look in my eyes
You are perfection, my only direction
It's fire on fire

Two Beethoven songs Isaac loves to play:

One he plays exclusively for Cane:

Beethoven Sonata No 23 3rd Movement Appassionata

The other he played as dramatic background accompaniment while Isaac wrestled with some inner demons and Koyan hilariously wrestled with the haunted jukebox on 10/13/19 at The Golden Perch.

Moonlight Sonata III: Presto Agitato

(Josie and Cane’s post bet duet! Thanks for rockin’ out for fun with my ballerina!)

Sugar High

They all said life's just a bowl of cherries, but
sometimes it seems like anything but
think again
sometimes reputations outlive their applications
sometimes fires don't go out
when you're done playing with them
I feel so funny deep inside
I wanna kiss myself goodbye

Sugar high

Gotta have it really need it to get by
sugar high
wanna feel it can't conceal it
sugarhigh

We could go out and not even leave the house
a TV set and a bottle of wine, just fine
crashing out on that old pull out couch
watching Saturday Night Live
I guess that's why
I feel so funny deep inside
I wanna kiss myself goodbye

Sugar High

when I think about my life
I wanna kiss myself goodbye

Sugar High

Alright! [guitar solo]

I... far and wide
I've explored the deepest caverns of my mind
to try and find an explanation why
I get this funny feeling deep inside
when I think about my life
I wanna kiss myself goodbye

Sugar high

Gotta have it really need it to get by
sugarhigh..
I wanna feel it can't conceal it makes me high
sugarhigh...
need it now I've got to live until I die
sugarhigh...
can you feel it, can you feel it
Sugar High!
Shhhhh....

Definitely an Isaac and Cane song.

If You Want Blood (You Got It)

It's criminal
There ought to be a law
Criminal
There ought to be a whole lot more
You get nothin' for nothin'
Tell me who can you trust
We got what you want
And you got the lust
If you want blood, you got it
If you want blood, you got it
Blood on the streets
Blood on the rocks
Blood in the gutter
Every last drop
You want blood
You got it
Yes you have

It's animal
Livin' in the human zoo
Animal
The shit that they toss to you
Feelin' like a christian
Locked in a cage
Thrown to the lions
On the second page
If you want blood, you got it
If you want blood, you got it
Blood on the street
Blood on the rocks
Blood in the gutter
Every last drop
You want blood
You got it
O positive

Blood on the rocks
Blood on the streets
Blood in the sky
Blood on the sheets
If you want blood
You got it

I want you to bleed for me

If you want blood, you got it
If you want blood, you got it
If you want blood, you got it

He’s a poet. He’s a real rough and tumble. He’s got the
bloom of desert peach inside his open mouth & a good
amount of crooning to do. Kiss like a snapped guitar
string. I dream of his shoulders & a full moon.

I want to be twisted in his hand like a length of rope.

To a Skylark

Hail to thee, blithe Spirit!
Bird thou never wert,
That from Heaven, or near it,
Pourest thy full heart
In profuse strains of unpremeditated art.

Higher still and higher
From the earth thou springest
Like a cloud of fire;
The blue deep thou wingest,
And singing still dost soar, and soaring ever singest.

In the golden lightning
Of the sunken sun,
O'er which clouds are bright'ning,
Thou dost float and run;
Like an unbodied joy whose race is just begun.

The pale purple even
Melts around thy flight;
Like a star of Heaven,
In the broad day-light
Thou art unseen, but yet I hear thy shrill delight,

Keen as are the arrows
Of that silver sphere,
Whose intense lamp narrows
In the white dawn clear
Until we hardly see, we feel that it is there.

All the earth and air
With thy voice is loud,
As, when night is bare,
From one lonely cloud
The moon rains out her beams, and Heaven is overflow'd.

What thou art we know not;
What is most like thee?
From rainbow clouds there flow not
Drops so bright to see
As from thy presence showers a rain of melody.

Like a Poet hidden
In the light of thought,
Singing hymns unbidden,
Till the world is wrought
To sympathy with hopes and fears it heeded not:

Like a high-born maiden
In a palace-tower,
Soothing her love-laden
Soul in secret hour
With music sweet as love, which overflows her bower:

Like a glow-worm golden
In a dell of dew,
Scattering unbeholden
Its aëreal hue
Among the flowers and grass, which screen it from the view:

Like a rose embower'd
In its own green leaves,
By warm winds deflower'd,
Till the scent it gives
Makes faint with too much sweet those heavy-winged thieves:

Sound of vernal showers
On the twinkling grass,
Rain-awaken'd flowers,
All that ever was
Joyous, and clear, and fresh, thy music doth surpass.

Teach us, Sprite or Bird,
What sweet thoughts are thine:
I have never heard
Praise of love or wine
That panted forth a flood of rapture so divine.

Chorus Hymeneal,
Or triumphal chant,
Match'd with thine would be all
But an empty vaunt,
A thing wherein we feel there is some hidden want.

What objects are the fountains
Of thy happy strain?
What fields, or waves, or mountains?
What shapes of sky or plain?
What love of thine own kind? what ignorance of pain?

With thy clear keen joyance
Languor cannot be:
Shadow of annoyance
Never came near thee:
Thou lovest: but ne'er knew love's sad satiety.

Waking or asleep,
Thou of death must deem
Things more true and deep
Than we mortals dream,
Or how could thy notes flow in such a crystal stream?

We look before and after,
And pine for what is not:
Our sincerest laughter
With some pain is fraught;
Our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thought.

Yet if we could scorn
Hate, and pride, and fear;
If we were things born
Not to shed a tear,
I know not how thy joy we ever should come near.

Better than all measures
Of delightful sound,
Better than all treasures
That in books are found,
Thy skill to poet were, thou scorner of the ground!

Teach me half the gladness
That thy brain must know,
Such harmonious madness
From my lips would flow
The world should listen then, as I am listening now.

“Let Me Die in My Footsteps.”

I will not go down under the ground
’Cause somebody tells me that death’s comin’ ’round
An’ I will not carry myself down to die
When I go to my grave my head will be high
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground

There’s been rumors of war and wars that have been
The meaning of life has been lost in the wind
And some people thinkin’ that the end is close by
’Stead of learnin’ to live they are learnin’ to die
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground

I don’t know if I’m smart but I think I can see
When someone is pullin’ the wool over me
And if this war comes and death’s all around
Let me die on this land ’fore I die underground
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground

There’s always been people that have to cause fear
They’ve been talking of the war now for many long years
I have read all their statements and I’ve not said a word
But now Lawd God, let my poor voice be heard
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground

If I had rubies and riches and crowns
I’d buy the whole world and change things around
I’d throw all the guns and the tanks in the sea
For they are mistakes of a past history
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground

Let me drink from the waters where the mountain streams flood
Let the smell of wildflowers flow free through my blood
Let me sleep in your meadows with the green grassy leaves
Let me walk down the highway with my brother in peace
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground

Go out in your country where the land meets the sun
See the craters and the canyons where the waterfalls run
Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Idaho
Let every state in this union seep down deep in your souls
And you’ll die in your footsteps
Before you go down under the ground.

“Every faction conditions its members to think and act a certain way. And most people do it. For most people, it’s not hard to learn, to find a pattern of thought that works and stay that way.” She touches my uninjured shoulder and smiles. “But our minds move in a dozen different directions. We can’t be confined to one way of thinking, and that terrifies our leaders. It means we can’t be controlled. And it means that no matter what they do, we will always cause trouble for them.”

What Have I Done by Dermot Kennedy

Woke up this morning, light poured in, you're with me
I thought I'd be better off alone
Now, my soul has been torn and reborn, started breathing
What have I done?
What have I done?

I never thought I needed saving, I was right where I should be
Good God, I know it's dangerous, but it's you that I need
I'm in love this time
I'm in love this time
What have I done?
What have I done?

So, don't you fall back asleep for this moment
Just be, I wanna get it right for once
Oh, I've been knocked out and beat but this feeling is fleeting
What have I done?
What have I done?

Never thought I needed saving, I was right where I should be
Good God, I know it's dangerous, but it's you that I need
I'm in love this time
I'm in love this time
What have I done?
What have I done?
Ever since the other night
I've been thinking 'bout the way you smile golden
Wanna move inside of your light
Ever since the other night
I've been thinking 'bout the way you smile golden
Wanna move inside of your light
What have I done?
Oh no, what have I done?
You be brave for me, now

I never thought I needed saving, I was right where I should be
Good God, I know it's dangerous, but it's you that I need
I'm in love this time
I'm in love this time
What have I done? (Oh, oh, oh, oh)
What have I done? (Oh, oh, oh, oh)
(Oh, oh, oh, oh)
(Oh, oh, oh, oh)

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.”

Missing you by Blake McGrath

Crumple my t-shirt
Look me in the eyes, don't let me go
Kiss you on the neck now

I could stay here all day
But I have to go, I have to go now
Your cologne, it lingers
I can smell your sweat on my fingers
You're the air I breathe

All day you stay with me
When you close the door
I'm already missing you
When you hang up the phone
I'm already missing you
I'm reminded everywhere
Stop your searching, stay right there
Up 'til I get home
I'm already missing you
I'm already missing you

Sunlights your hair in a blue room
Wonder what you dream in the afternoon
Time to wake up now
Whisper in my ear, "Do you have to go?"

Well I don't know now
Your kiss left an imprint
Like a new tatoo I'm wearing it
Pocket of my jeans
All day you stay with me

When you close the door
I'm already missing you
When you hang up the phone
I'm already missing you, yeah
I'm reminded everywhere
Stop your searching, stay right there
Up 'til I get home
I'm already missing you

Can't wait to seize the night
Wrapped up in you so tight
Like you're my oxygen
Can't help but rush right in
Hang on your every kiss
Couldn't life just stay like this?
'Cause I can't take a step
Without your tenderness

When you close the door
I'm already missing you
When you hang up the phone
I'm already missing you
I'm reminded everywhere
Stop your searching, stay right there
Up 'til I get home
I'm already missing
Already missing you

When you close the door
I'm already missing you (yeah, woah)
When you hang up the phone
I'm already missing you, yeah
I'm reminded everywhere
Stop your searching, stay right there
Up 'til I get home
I'm already missing you, yeah
I'm already missing you

Vincent
by Don McLean

Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul

Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy, linen land

Now, I understand what you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue

Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand

Now, I understand, what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left inside
On that starry, starry night

You took your life as lovers often do
But I could have told you, Vincent
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you

Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget

Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn of bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow

Now, I think I know what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will.

Movement
By: Hozier

I still watch you when you're groovin'
As if through water from the bottom of a pool
You're movin' without movin'
And when you move, I'm moved
You are a call to motion
There, all of you a verb in perfect view
Like Jonah on the ocean
When you move, I'm moved

When you move
I'm put to mind of all that I wanna be
When you move
I could never define all that you are to me

So move me, baby
Shake like the bough of a willow tree
You do it naturally
Move me, baby

You are the rite of movement
Its reasonin' made lucid and cool
I know it's no improvement

When you move, I move
You're less Polunin leapin'
Or Fred Astaire in sequins
Honey, you, you're Atlas in his sleepin'
And when you move, I'm moved
When you move
I can recall somethin' that's gone from me
When you move
Honey, I'm put in awe of somethin' so flawed and free

So move me, baby
Shake like the bough of a willow tree
You do it naturally
Move me, baby
So move me, baby
Like you've nothin' left to prove
And nothin' to lose
Move me, baby

Ooh, ooh, ooh
Oh baby, oh baby
Move like grey skies
Move like a bird of paradise
Move like an odd sight come out at night

Move me, baby
Shake like the bough of a willow tree
You do it naturally
Move me, baby
So move me, baby
Like you've nothin' left to lose
And nothin' to prove
Move me, baby
So move me, baby
Shake like the bough of a willow tree
You do it naturally
Move me, baby
Locked
