Alternatively - the quote above says "one (or more of them)" magically reset, which implies one or more do not. Which ones got picked for that I have no idea, but anything else could be changed back via storyline construction crews, potentially as the arena's expense.
I don't think any of them got picked to do that. It was all a "supposed to have" mean there was an idea to have it happen but that never took place or came to fruition, as far as my understand of what Rory said goes.

So I would think that idea is basically a wash, I just don't see how it could come into play at this point in the game. I think Rory was just giving me backstories on the original idea more than anything because I mentioned wanting to keep the integrity of her creation.

I'm kind of late to post in this but when I first won New Haven I started working on a Renovation thread where Hope and Davien were going to tour the Manor and the property and basically see how it was, what they might consider doing to it. Having gone through this thread(and defending! that never hurt) I want to get back to work on it. Personally I was taking my time to compile pictures that matched Rory's description as best I could and make a nice seamless guide through it.

I like the idea of each place having a thread where people can add and collaborate and experience the touches each previous Baron has done to it. I also think there could be a fun way to explore these new ideas with some writing prompts like a Rhy'Din TV: Cribs special. That would be actually hilarious when you compare say New Haven with Old Temple.

I also paid homage to one of the more recent events in New Haven with a headnod to a firebomb post from Andrea's tenure. I would love to include more and I think a centralized thread for previous posts could really help that.

Edit: Post-thought. I think my interpretation of Rory's thoughts are each player should have the flexibility to envision and make the properties reflect their characters, but remain true to what they were afterwards. If someone is an aristocrat, maybe they put in a hedge maze where the "garden" would be. Maybe Gren wins it and literally grows a garden where the "garden" should be. I think a good balance is keeping the spirit of the properties alive but being able to put our own twists into play.

This.

I'm against the idea of having set pictures for each baronies, but am for a sort of catalog that keeps tabs on any changes that might happen. Pictures means things are set in stone, and whose to say a baron down the line won't blow up half of the manor or knock down one of the outside walls and put in an additional room? There's been multiple parties in the manors and each one has had their own sort of twist to how the location looks. Compare that to having a set picture - it feels more like a loss of creativity and imagination.

It's what can make the baronies feel unique, like the Opals. From writer to writer the Opals whispers can be either completely ignored, where they are treated as simple trinkets for the title, or they can be expanded upon with different emotions and personalities. There is usually a difference in how Duelist A has their Opal act compared to Duelist B.

tl;dr = I think as long as someone isn't outright denying someone else's opportunities, let them write, use pictures they like, and have fun with it.

That and pray no one wins a barony and has their character bulldoze it to make a parking lot... Then Twilight Isle will have to be called in to rewind time.

When I won Old Temple on Nayun for the first time, I wrote a post where she made a koi pond on the grounds.
I didn't know about the gym or the pit!

The koi pond, however, I did know about. The students at Harker's Academy started taking turns feeding the fish some time ago.

Would each Barony having it's own thread/folder within the Forums go a long way in helping to encourage this idea? Different sections of the city have its own area on the forums of RDI, though granted much of our own IC forums outside of sport specific ones are a ghost town.

Each thread/folder can contain the Barony description that the title holders can update as they play into it with the understanding that "renovations" just get added on as a follow up post.

This could also allow for a thread about former/present squires so that rather than being sport history, the Squires become part of the Manor records.

Just my 2 cents.

I think each barony having its own thread (rather than folder) with the initial description would be great. People could reply to the post with links to stories connected to that barony?

Better yet,

One folder, Eight threads.

One for each Barony and the Overlord Island.

This way, whichever specific folder it goes into won't get/look cluttered by 8 other threads that are stickied/announcements at the top. Easier to maintain and looks better aesthetically. I *think* the Arena can hold a subfolder, though I may be wrong. That would be ideal. Otherwise, I believe they should be contained in one single location.

I second / third / fourth? With the suggestion of making a subfolder with threads for reach Barony and Overlord Island. Though I’ve never held an official title in Swords, Grace served as Squire to Battlefield Park through 4 different barons. Each one did their own thing, had their own different interaction with the barony, it would be nice to keep any additions (or take aways) in one place.

I know that BFP had a large pantry, Shadow I believe lived in the manor / armory there. He used it to entice Grace and offered her a small room (she was homeless, which I believe he realized). I can’t remember if it was with G or with Terry (simply because I was more formal with Rhiannon’s player), but Grace fibbed to one of them and claimed that her room was the room closest to the pantry. ;) And she moved in that one – with no one the wiser! Tee hee!

Terry even straight up let Grace be in charge of the barony completely because she had her own place / the armory was too spooky?

Tl;dr Many title holders leave marks, no matter how big or small, it would be super great if these ideas were in one place!
