G that looks like something I was thinking prior. Duelists put characters in a pool and a draft is done. Balanced teams would be fine, but then you can't have an all-crew team.

A draft and balanced teams? Great idea, but that tosses out part of the whole casual and fun aspect. From the IC perspective, would people be really having fun dueling on teams with people they don't like? I don't think so. However, it'd be funny if one of the people who disapprove of kids dueling ended up with Maggie on their team.

I don't see why an all-Crew WRC team couldn't be done in the 'specialty' scenario; they'd just have to assign some of their folk into the Magic speciality.

If they decided to just use Crew characters for the team, Magic just wouldn't be their strongpoint and they'd likely have to do even better in the other sports to offset.

Maybe it would be helpful if there were a benefit to dueling in Magic? I can see why some duelists would avoid Magic when there is 1 team that appears to have more experience than the others. The rest of the teams look pretty equal in Fists and Swords experience though. G and Matt's recommendations look good, but maybe there should also be a weekly point bonus for winning each week in each sport? That way none of the sports could be ignored (points wise). The other teams couldn't afford to let 1 team win a couple of magic duels each week (against non-hydra duelists) and continually gain the weekly bonus.

I feel like this suggestion may been too far off topic from the original post...Sorry

Why should there be a weight in any sport outside of the team's abilities? Part of the point of a tournament is to win on merit. Much like Mur pointed out elsewhere, some people just work harder to win. Let's not forget some characters don't lend themselves well to Magic.

Forces of Nature has a packed house of SNs from the Magic standings. Xanth on Great of Strength is a powerhouse in Magic and, no offense to his teammates, is carrying them in that sport. Candy, Seirichi, and Mur from Beat Down, two current Keepers (one a former Archmage) and a former one. Crush Bob has Jaycy, Kalinda, Sarah, Tasselhofl, and Matt; three former Keepers in that bunch. The only team that came into the tournament with little or no Magic experience is the Crew.

I don't follow you? I suggested team points for having the best week in DoM/DoS/DoF to encourage participation in all 3 sports. If Team A had the best week in Swords they get an extra 10 points. Team B had the best week in magic, they get 10 points. Team A also had the best week in Fists, so another 10 points at the end of the week for Team A. That encourages each team to go for the extra weekly points. I guess it's similar to the Tour de Rhydin. There were bonuses for having the best performance in a sport. This is just a suggestion for next year since some were saying that 1 sport may not currently have as much Hydra activity as the other sports.

Lem,

You started out with this:

then made the other suggestion. Came off like two things. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
