October All-Ranks Tournament

Okay, so I was at the tournament, dressed sharper than sharp because I'm just that awesome.

The entrants were, in order of seeding: Sarah, Rhaine, Paradise, Xanth, Lem, Alais, Hochi, Wyheree, and David. Five of our contestants weren't on the RoK rankings, and were thus shuffled around on the bottom.

The first round went as follows:

Sarah had the bye
Rhaine vs. David
Paradise vs. Wyheree
Xanth vs. Hochi
Lem vs. Alais

It was a very close first round of duels, with one even going into sudden death. In the end, the first victors were Rhaine, Lem, Wyh, and Hochi. The next round went like this:

In winners':
Rhaine had the bye
Sarah vs. Wyh
Lem vs. Hochi

In losers':
Paradise vs. David
Xanth vs. Alais

The victors here were Hochi, Sarah, Paradise, and Alais, thus eliminating David and Xanth. And with the field starting to narrow, we went on to the next round.

Winners':
Hochi had the bye
Sarah vs. Rhaine

Losers':
Lem vs. Paradise
Wyh vs. Alais

Sarah and Rhaine actually had a super long duel, which ended after 20 rounds with Rhaine as the victor. Wyh defeated Alais, and Lem defeated Paradise, and we were on to the next round that would decide the finalist in the winners' bracket.

Winners':
Rhaine vs. Hochi

Losers':
Sarah had the bye
Lem vs. Wyh

Rhaine vs. Hochi was pretty close, but Hochi managed to beat her to become the winners' bracket finalist. Between Lem vs. Wyh, the old Mage Emeritus reigned victorious. With that, the only thing we had to finish out was the losers' bracket before proceeding to the final.

The next match was Sarah against Lem. She started out with a dominating lead, but Lem came back and they stayed neck and neck up until the point where Sarah claimed the victory. Then Sarah went on to fight Rhaine, and this duel was not at all like their 20-round affair. It ended quickly, with Rhaine as the victor.

That then took us to our finale in ring Anemoi, fitting considering the prize at stake here. It was Hochi Bird Onyxfire against Rhaine Rustovich! It looked for a little bit like Hochi was going to run away with it, but like in Sarah vs. Lem, Rhaine managed to even the ground. But also like in Sarah vs. Lem, the one with the early momentum took the finish!

Hochi Bird Onyxfire wins the All-Ranks Tournament, with Rhaine Rustovich coming in second, and Sarah Matthews coming in third!

As the first prize winner, Hochi had the first opportunity to exchange his wins for the Tower of Air... and he took the deal! Hochi Bird Onyxfire is the 16th Keeper of Air! As he is an Apprentice, he will have until the end of the cycle to reach the rank of Enchanter. He still gets the nobles for a first place finish, and everyone else still gets to keep their wins (and nobles, for 2nd and 3rd place finishers).

We've decided to extend Hochi's reign as Keeper of Air until the next ART to allow him to take advantage of the cycle reset. However, this will be the only extension. He must reach Enchanter by the next ART in order to remain the Keeper of Air.
