The young elf wandered through the shop, pausing now and then to look at the statuary, and jewelry.
I introduced myself to him, and told him if there was anything I could help him with, please let me know, and then I left him to wander at his will.
One thing I cannot abide are pushy sales people. I prefer to let people linger as long as they like.
Art is not something to be rushed.

He nodded as Ariel moved away. Dimitri looked a bit closer at a Necklace, he muttered to himself in elvish taking notes at things here and there.
"how much is this?" He indicated the Necklace he was looking at. He was holding a bracelet he made. Dimitri looked at Ariel.

Prices Quoted
I glanced up as he asked for the price on a gold necklace in the show case. I believe the artist is asking 2400 gold for it. It is a lovely thing, isn't it?
The bracelet you are holding is a one of a kind piece, there are no copies, and he has set the price on that at 1050 gold.
He does exquisite work. The person you gift with such pieces would have the finest examples of craftsmanship for centuries to come.

Pulling the necklace out of the display case, "The artist told me it was lost wax technique, and that he destroyed the mold, so there can be no others just like it."
Studying the young elf long moments. "I would consider it, but I would like to see samples of this other artist's work before I said yes.."
Wrapping them both for him. "3450 gold please."

Dimitri pulled out the gold for the items. "well if you need a sample here." He pulled out two rings and a necklace. "These are only a few of my works. I also do stone work I work mainly with rock."
Dimitri spaced his samples out evenly on the counter.

Jewelry Artisans
I took his payment, and wrapped the necklace and bracelet into gift packages before picking up the two rings and necklace.
I laid them upon a black velvet cloth and brought out a jeweler's loop, inspecting the craftsmanship of each piece silently.
At length, I looked at the young elf, "These are finely crafted, you have a gift with metal and stone. What sort of prices do you expect on your work? I also expect the art I sell to be original at best, limited editions at worst. Are you willing to keep to that constraint?"
Laying his samples back upon the black velvet.

Visit from Brother
The sun had set moments before, and Gabriel walked into his sister's shop. He found her speaking to a young elf, and so he headed for her back room.
She was discussing a possible business deal with him, and he smirked. Why she chose to deal with people on a daily basis eluded his understanding.
Entering the back room, he dropped onto her desk chair, and kicked his feet up onto her desk.
Artists.

Negotiation
I studied him a moment, catching the presence of my brother as he slid into the back room.
"Well, I'd need to know how much material you have in your pieces, and how much time, from there I can calculate a standard base price and we can see what you think. How soon can you bring me enough pieces to make a display?"
He looked around for a few moments, and I closed the jewelry display and locked it once more.

display
"well right now actually. how many pieces do you need to make a display? I have about 300 pieces in my collection."
He watched as she locked the display.

Sweeping my hand above the display case, "Well, depending on the size of the pieces, a nice display should have about 15-22 pieces. If there is a theme, so much the better. Do you follow an artisitc theme, or are they all independent and unmatched?"
My brother was growing restless, I could feel him almost pacing in the back.
Focusing once again on the young elf before me, "When could you bring your work for us to discuss it? I know they're completed, but you certainly do not have them on you." I smiled.

"Excellent. If you could bring the pieces by next Monday, that will give me time to create the right display setting for them after I've seen them, and set prices. That way everything will be ready for the weekend shoppers. I will look forward to having your work as part of the Emporium's offerings."
I offered him my hand, and then headed into the back to see what was turning my brother into a caged tiger.

Timeless. My world is essentially timeless. And yet, having to wait for Ariel was going to wear my nerves to frayed chaos.
I focused on a vase of ginger she had on her desk, and before I could stop myself, the water in the crystal boiled, and the stems went limp.
"Damn, she's going to kill me."
