On the night of Monday, July 25, of the year 2005 by some reckonings, I, Etherean Esperwind did bear witness to the Keeper of Earth Challenge matchups between Artemus Kurgen and the Keeper of Earth, Gork.

In the first duel of this best of three matchup, Artemus powered ahead to defeat the incumbent, 5-1.5, in 10 rounds. The second and final duel was somewhat longer. Artemus attained and held an early lead until the 12th round, where Gork tied it up at 3.5. Two quick rounds later, however, it was over, with Artemus triumphant at 5-3.5, in 14.

And thus did Artemus Kurgen succeed in his Challenge, and became the Keeper of Earth.
