Amaltea won a single-elimination tournament to become Overlord. She eliminated Xenograg in the first round!

"The stupidest creative act is still a creative act, and that the real gap isn't between the mediocre and great work. The real gap is between getting started and doing nothing. If you've created something, even if it's stupid, you've put yourself in a position to do more." - Clay Shirky
Wow... 11 years for the 11th.
I remember Vernick had just stepped down, just as I was writing my intent to challenge. I still have that email. So there was a tournament, not just to select the Overlord, but to rank the rest of the Warlords. There were three days of dueling. On the first day I dueled Xeno and someone else that I can't remember. On the second day I had a bye because Lady Beth was a no show. I had another duel, but I can't remember who. On the third day there were others still dueling for placement. After that was done then I had to duel Blue for the title. I won the duel, she became the first ranked Warlord.

June 12th 1993...E core 008 ((Baphelocutis character) defs Overlord Xenograg in his first ever match.
Back in the days of Gondar and Falon and RDI Gloin.
I have not dueled every Overlord when they were Overlord, but I have dueled ever character that has ever been Overlord, Xeno was 3rd, Gondar and Falon were the first two, though Gondar became Overlord by default because of being the first Warlord of DoS. Falon challenged him and won as soon as he became Warlord. Xenograg was the first Overlord to beat an Overlord who won the title before him by challenging someone for it.
I remember the Seira Red and Gondar match in which the Ward of Gondar was created.
I also remember some Taryn guy too a few years later.

I remember my first DoS duel... I'd wandered in to the Arena following Perri's player and watched a few times, chatted with G'nort & a few others, then finally got talked into a duel with Jeff. I ended up winning, and remember that quite a few people thought I was a "ringer".

I too remember my first duel. I beat Myrridin / RDI Ranger who I worked with at the time and taught me how to duel before I came to the DoS. He was NOT happy. We were sitting next to each other at work too. Then I duelled Jeff and then AJBird . The little dwarf spanked me and then I won against AJ and that started our long friendship and my love of the arena.
Have not seen or talked to any though in many many years.....

This seems as good a place as any for my request.
