Closing of a Bookstore

Post by Lisana »

The area of town that had been chosen to house the specialty bookstore all those years ago. Wasn't known for it's finer tastes. Though it kept the bills to a minimum and made sure there was plenty of funds left over to keep the owner in a comfortable enough life that suited her. After three years in the same store front, it was now marred by the burnt out buildings around it. Things had been good for the woman and her single employee up until two weeks ago.

The sudden rash of crime had worked it's way into the neighborhood that housed her shop. The first notice was the clothier that was three buildings down from her. One night it was fine and the next morning when the Blonde came to open her shop it was in smoldering ruins. Completely burnt out. There was no explination other then arson and a gathering of a few goons that seemed to be dressed similarly.

The pregnant blonde of course took note of everything around and began talking with Ally the woman who ran to shop in her absence as was often used as the treasure hunter.

"Lisana, they visited Chen two days before the shop was burned. He was told he could either pay or something bad would happen. Now all that's left of his store is the rubble you see."

"I understand Ally, but I told you if they come here, I won't pay and if they try anything funny I have a few friends that would be willing to sit in the shop all night and dispose of anyone that tried to take what is mine. Don't worry about it." Lisana spoke softly as she went about getting the invoices in order for the insurance holder. There were a few new additions to the inventory.

Ally huffed and wagged a finger at her. "Look your pregnant, cripes anyone that looks at you can see that immediately. What are you going to do if they hassle you and I'm not here?" Giving the blonde a narrowed gaze. "You gonna risk your baby just so you don't lose your pride?"

"Ally stop it. You know me better then that. Don't worry about me okay. I'm not stupid but I won't give away what is mine either." The blonde shook her head as she moved to finish getting the inventory together. She was in a rush and glanced out the windows that were covered with steel bars. "If the worst happens Ally we can always move the inventory to a safe place and give up this store front. Don't worry so much."

The Blonde moved towards the door, just barely getting the locks in place before two of the similarly clad goons showed up at the door. She gave a smile and turned the closed sign. Yanking the keys out of the last deadbolt in the door before she retreated farther back. She and Ally watched as the wooden custom made sign for the shop was torn down and broken to bits by the two.

Ally and Lisana turned to look at one another. "Lisana you don't come down here anymore without Tellius or Kheldar. It's not safe." The Blonde nodded. "All right Ally, I'll get things started, it's time to leave this place before we lose everything."
