The good part about knowing your prey well was having inside information on when they were going to be home, or more importantly in this case when they weren't. Nikolai didn't need to sneak, he just knocked on the door and said with all directness to Mrs. Fenner that he had some Valentine's gifts for Abby and Maddie, and that he wanted his friends to find them, later.
