Mew Year's Eve!

Post by Mew »

It has been one whole year since Mew claimed the Key to the Tower of Fire, and to celebrate they are inviting all of Rhy'Din & Twilight Isle to...

A Magmaficent Mew Year's Eve Party!

This anniversary celebration begins tonight, December 28th and will run all weekend long until the first of January 2024!

Using their powers as the Keeper of Fire, Mew has cooled a small portion of the lava lake within the volcano to create a circular patio where visitors may congregate for the celebration. Though Mew has made the atmosphere less hazardous to any visitors not immune to extreme heat conditions just inside the volcano, the Tower itself will still be off limits for safety reasons.

What a great view, however! Tables and chairs crafted of cooled volcanic glass have been placed around the circular patio, with safety rails constructed of cooled lava rocks to keep anyone from falling in. Cozy, fireproof lounges are arranged in the center of the platform where guests may gather and socialize while snacking.

Barrels full of skewers are placed in strategic locations, and an assortment of uncooked edibles have been placed nearby. Guests are encouraged to assemble their own kebabs from the available meats and vegetables, and to roast them over the open fires of the surrounding lava lake. Baskets full of marshmallows and sweet treats are also present in abundance, with plenty of materials available to make s'mores should one like.

Ice does not last long in this environment, but with a little bit of magic there will be plenty of cold refreshments available as well. It would not be a Mew celebration without milkshakes and ice cream sundaes, after all! For an extra treat, one can even try their ice cream deep fried!

Spend the weekend challenging friends to acts of daring do, such as mountain climbing and lava surfing. Camp out in the forests at the base of the mountains and play a few rousing rounds of freeze tag, or head back into the volcano for some fire golem dodge ball! Maybe even participate in a duel or two, or create your own games and share the friendly fun!

Visitors are welcome all weekend long, but the main event kicks off on Sunday the 31st! Ladders and stairs made of cooled lava rock spiral the mountain to its peak, and there at midnight on Sunday will be a spectacular fireworks show, carefully controlled by Keeper Mew themself! Where does the music come from? Nobody knows! Come celebrate the New Year with them this weekend!

(( This is entirely a board event, unless anyone wants to also use it for a prompt to write fun things in the #twilight_isle channel on Rings of Discord, which is totally encouraged. Please feel free to post to this thread if you like. One year as a Keeper is a big milestone! I wanted to do something fun with it, and the timing was perfect. I hope you enjoy! Happy Mew Year! ^_^ ))

With a bit of help from the Governor, the Keeper of Fire has set up four different stations to serve guests’ appetites while they’re partying for Mew Year’s Eve.

On the first, guests will find everything they need to create their own kabobs. In addition to steak, chicken, shrimp, and extra-firm tofu, there is a variety of vegetables and fruit, including peppers, onion, mushrooms, pineapple and peach chunks, and more, to be threaded onto the provided skewers. Once assembled, the kabobs can be brushed with guests’ favorite sauces before cooking. Among the glazes offered are teriyaki, honey-balsamic, and barbecue sauces. And since kebabs alone don’t make a meal, guests can pair them with freshly-made flatbread, an almond rice pilaf, and a mixed green salad with a variety of dressings.

Befitting the Keeper of Fire’s sweet tooth and sweeter temperament, the next two stations are devoted to dessert.

On one, guests will find everything they need to make the best s’mores they’ve ever had. In addition to the expected dark, milk, and white chocolate squares, there are also chopped candy bars, peanut butter cups, and peppermint patties ready to be paired with the several flavors of graham crackers, cookies, and even salted pretzel crisps. Not to be outdone by the chocolate, the marshmallows come in a variety of flavors, as well, including cherry, citrus, and cinnamon. And for those with such dietary concerns, there are even vegan marshmallows on offer. Finally, to make every s’more that much more extra, there are spreads and other add-ins for guests to enjoy. There’s Nutella, cookie butter, dulce de leche, and a few flavors of jam, sliced fruits and berries, toasted coconut, and last but not least, candied bacon.

On the other, guests will find everything necessary to recreate their favorite milkshakes and sundaes. There are a variety of dairy and non-dairy ice creams, including the traditional triad of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, as well as more modern flavors, such as cookie dough, peppermint bark, cinnamon, and coffee. For those seeking to create milkshakes, there are both dairy and non-dairy milks, plus cold brew coffee and eggnog. And for crowning both milkshakes and ice cream sundaes, there is a wide variety of toppings and add-ins, including dairy and non-dairy whipped creams, brownie and pound cake cubes, crushed cookies and candy, flavored syrups, fresh and frozen fruit, chopped nuts, and so much more!

The last station the Keeper of Fire has set up is devoted to beverages. There are pitchers of their official Twilight Isle cocktail, Bubble Pop, and of a non-alcoholic, pink bubblegum-lemonade variant, as well as magic coolers filled with a variety of bottled beverages, such as sparkling water, soda, and beer. Regardless of guests’ tastes, they’re sure to find something to quench their thirst.
