2nd Annual Rhy’Din Citywide Trick-or-Treat

It’s time once again for Rhy’Din’s Citywide Trick-or-Treat!

Get ready for an enchanting adventure on Saturday, October 28th, as our beloved city is transformed into a real-life Candy Land! Each district in the city has been designated as a location from the board game, forming a trail of sweetness that will carry trick-or-treaters and their guardians from one end of Rhy’Din to the other. Transportation from district to district will be provided by the Rhydin Transit Authority, and at each stop along the candy trail, adults and children alike will be treated to themed refreshments to ensure they’re well-fueled before they set off into the different neighborhoods to knock on doors and sing out, “Trick or treat!”

(A map/board of Candy Land for the sake of reference.)

Near the end of the trail is a stop at the Governor’s mansion, where Governor Gatito and his team of spooky helpers will personally distribute goodie bags containing treats and trinkets, such as candy, macaron duos, tiny Halloween-themed stuffies, to each person who comes in for a visit.

(Examples of what the treat bags look like and what may be inside.)

The final stop of the night is the idyllic Gardenhome Orchards, where proprietors Eregor and Rhiannon Túr Gairdín welcome everyone with the promise of a crackling bonfire, delicious food, spine-tingling ghost stories, and lively games. It promises to be the perfect ending to an evening spent on the go, and to help citizens create cherished memories and bring the community closer together.

(( The OOC: This is a board-only event. Everyone is invited and encouraged to post to this thread with images and descriptions of how their characters and/or their children may have dressed up for the night, how they may have decorated their homes and/or businesses, what sorts of tricks they may have played on others (with permission, of course), and anything else that can be dreamed up. You’re only limited by your imagination!

(( I’d like to say a special thank you to the player behind former Governor Dris for allowing me to reprise their idea this year. I’d also like to thank the player behind Rhiannon Túr Gairdín for helping me come up with a theme for the year and allowing me to include Gardenhome Orchards. You guys are awesome. ))

A powerfully built black-bearded man in black and gold hooded silk desert garb and a slender raven-haired woman in black and gold hooded silk robes accompanied the other members of the Blackthorne Household along all of the stops on the official route for the Rhy'Din Citywide Trick or Treat Night.

Two open-bed wagons, one drawn by a tan Irish wolfhound and a black and white Newfoundland and the other drawn by a tan Elkhound and a white Dire Wolf, held the feline Household members in two groups of ten and seven. The ten kittens wore various costumes: Iron Butch, Scarlet Wander, Purrbie in a replica of Barbie's pink Enchanted Evening outfit, Doctor Kitten, Robina, Princess Projectra, Samurai Buster, Duo Damsels, and Bat Kitten. The seven adult Cats were regally outfitted with gold circlets and black velvet capes with gold embroidery in the patterns of panthers and wolves.

It was rumored before the night’s end that a group of ten children in traditional Halloween costumes including two witches, a pair of identical mummies, Frankenstein, the Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, the Invisible Man, the Werewolf, and Little Red Riding Hood traveled the official Trick or Treat route again with the intent to get more treats. They were accompanied by both a slender blond-haired young woman in an ochre wool gown and cape and a dashing black-haired man in a tuxedo.

At the end of the route, the majority of the elder members of the Blackthorne Household settled themselves in for a sleepover at Gardenhome Orchards. Bond, Moneypenny, and Cinder, meanwhile, accompanied the kittens to the storytelling event. Tux curled up with both Mayflower and Pepper to watch over his younger siblings. Mayflower stayed close to Pepper to make sure that her little brother wasn't too scared by the ghost stories. The kittens eventually fell asleep in their sleeping bags for the night.

Gardenhome Orchards was decked out with pale orange fairy lights to simulate and reflect the glow of the campfire that was burning. Tents of various sizes circled the firepit where guests of all ages were invited to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Foil wrapped potatoes, some with butter, cheese, and/or onions, were placed in the fire for part of the dinner offerings. Eregor manned the grill, cooking up burgers and roasting corn on the cob. Rhi had prepared apple and pumpkin filled tarts for dessert. Goody bags filled with candy and other treats were offered to each guest as they arrived.

In case of inclement weather, a room inside Gardentower had been set aside for camping fun.
