Fall Gala - October 27th

Post by Keeper of Stories »

Welcome to the Fall Gala
Image

The Old Ballroom of Orktoberfest stands at the edge of the festival grounds, a lonely monument to what was once a grand manor house in the misty moors of Battlefield Park, burned to the ground on a moonless autumn night. The ballroom is a great stone octagon, its old slate roof draped in curtains of ivy and roses that have turned to all the fiery shades of fall. Druidcraft has parted the ivy away from the tall windows that stand without glass or panes. These serve as frames for the Fall Arches, decorations built by patrons of the event to celebrate the season. Cool mist from the moors seeps in through these gateways, but torches ensconced on the stone walls and large brass braziers throughout the chamber help keep guests warm.

A large goblin tent has been set up in what remains of the grand corridor that once connected to the old manor house, where staff have set up a full kitchen for the event. A well-stocked bar and a coat check stand to either side of the hawthorn-framed doors that lead outside. Servers dressed in warm and fiery fall colors take orders and serve guests at their tables or on the dance floor. Guests will enjoy a three-course meal while the hostess for the Fall Gala, Batty Bloodblade, judges the donated Arches and announces the winners.

A grand chandelier recovered from the old manor house hangs over the dance floor, but no room could be found for the band. Instead the musicians are playing from the Ethereal Plane, their ghostly outlines tucked into the empty windows for the best acoustics, though stranger sounds than string, wind and brass may emanate from these spaces... Dancers without a partner may find an unseen phantom to stand in, if they are willing.

Hosted by Batty Bloodblade (Keeper of Stories) on Friday, October 27th at 9PM ET in #battlefield-park

((This is both a board and live event! Please use this space to share outfits and write out your attendance if you wish to vapor instead of live play.

We encourage you to post Fall Arches in this thread on behalf of characters or their organizations, and during the evening the winners will be picked! Include a picture and caption/description for your Arch, such as the inspiration behind it, the organization that sponsored the arch, etc.

Warning: This event will not go to plan for the organizers and patrons, and will be disrupted by a catastrophic event, and it will be up to the characters attending to help resolve it!

Huge thanks to the players of Mallory, Anya, and gatito for their assistance with this event.))

Revelers get to start start off the evening snacking from a grazing table loaded with meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, and so much more while enjoying one of the evening’s signature cocktails (or another drink of their choice) and mingling. Then they will be treated to a three-course meal comprised of their selections from the evening’s menu and brought to them by helpful servers.

Description: After watching a down-dubbed bootleg VHS of Disney’s Cars, Olaf was inspired to contact a local junkyard and communicate his vision for a gate. He then peppered the owners with flyers that stated “HOSTILE TAKEOVER >:[” and uprooted the arch and fled the scene, erecting it at the Old Ballroom instead. Cadentian authorities have issued a Be on the Lookout for the Seward trunk.

((Thanks Gatito for riffing this out with me.))

Description: This inflatable arch was lovingly crafted purchased from Costco by one Mr. Lucky Green. He paid with 100% hand-made handed-over coins. The drakes Twist and Gatsby Green were responsible for selecting this item, however, based on the funny face and how much fun they had flying through the streamers. Included with Mr. Green's submission is a written assurance that doing a dance, striking a pose, or cartwheeling under the arch will NOT trigger a hidden enchantment on it.

((This submission is just for fun! It's not in the running for prizes.))

Harvest Home
Submitted by the Blackthorne Household

This arch was constructed from recycled wood by the adult members of the Blackthorne Household. The younger feline members used fall flowers, pumpkins, heirloom flint corn cobs, wheat sheaves, dried corn stalks and autumn leaves grown in and gathered from around the Household's garden on Twilight Isle to decorate the arch. Moneypenny, Mayflower and Pepper supurrvised the final installation of the arch on the festival grounds.
