Whitedown Grand Wing Opening Gala

The owners of Whitedown Retreat and Spa in Dockside invite the city to help them celebrate the opening of their newest expansion.

Deep underground springs that feed the main baths have been tracked along their paths. One of these excursions has uncovered a crystal cave housing a subterranean lake. With an eye on those guests who may need some more room to stretch, Whitedown has moved in.

On the night of the opening, the natural rock formations are lit with a glow that reflects off the crystal and water.



On the shores of the lake, caterers circulate.



Drinks flavored with fruit juices glitter in the low light thanks to a swirling crystal additive. More bottles are hidden behind the bar, free to add to drinks of choice.



Hors d'oeuvres that blend with the subterranean setting or contrast it with pops of color are offered up to guests.




Desserts, including raindrop cakes that glow when cut and cupcakes and sweet from Sweet Relief bakery are available all night. Guests are encouraged to mingle the sweet and savory.



Nestled among the stalagmites, out of the cleared space that invites partygoers to dance, musicians take requests. The acoustics of the large cavern carry the sound clearly, drawing guests from above and below ground until the last song fades in the small hours of the night.

There were many reasons for Ettyn to be proud of Whitedown Retreat, and catering to clients with a wide variety of needs was one of them. They had long since opened waterways to merfolk and others, and expanded underground access for the sun- or surface-averse; now there would be baths and relaxation services for dragons, giants, and others with larger forms.

She arrived early, long enough to take in and appreciate the potential of the cavernous space before they tried to fill it up. Then she helped with the last stages of setup, calming any panic with the staff with her steady, patient presence.

She had dressed in a beautiful and comfortable green dress that drew the eye to her arms and back, and donned fine jewelry, which she didn’t often - a necklace from her sister, from two Christmases ago, and a brooch from Angel she’d received just before the gala.

To support her friends, Karma made sure to make an appearance. Plus it gave her an opportunity to scope out the new digs and see just what services she might want to take advantage of in the future. She donned a dress of her own design and making (with a little help on materials from The Closet) and used the opportunity to show off accordingly.

[Angelic]

Angel, particularly excited about this new offering at the spa, was thrilled to finally be able to show it off in style! When not managing caterers and assisting Ettyn in keeping staff organized, he could be seen mingling with guests and speaking at length about the many features of the spa at large and the many they cater to.

[Issy]

Why...goodness gracious me. There was even a rare Isuelt sighting! She found it hard to resist both the food and drinks of the evening, as well as supporting her friends. Besides, being out and about was always good for the soul! Isuelt was appreciative of the ladies at the Silk's Stitch shoppe for their (ever so giddy) help with the gown. It was something she wouldn't ordinarily go for, but she had a bit of panache going on lately. And those dressmakers were going to take full advantage of it!

[Anya de la Rose]

Anya played the part of hostess along with the spa's other owners. Arriving early and staying late, she did what she could to ensure a smooth evening. When possible, she circulated through the guests, greeting new and familiar faces and encouraging all to return to the retreat for personal treatments.

[Hyejin Ri]

When Hye-jin heard about a grand opening gala for Whitedown she was certain to make an appearance. She was excited to wear a suit she'd had since the previous spring, and a more appropriate occasion to wear it this time. She availed herself of food and drinks and mingled with a look of great contentment.

[Josette Wheeler]

Drawn to the frequencies of the crystals that sang to the crystalline nature of her cells, Josette could not resist exploring the new unveiling at Whitedown. The petite ballerina marveled at the overall splendor of the spa. After congratulating all of the owners, she’d help herself to a drink and more than a few of the gorgeous geode macarons. Dancing was an absolute must, though she did sometimes appear to get distracted by visions of evolving geometric patterns off the natural rock formations that rippled across the water and in the air itself. Patterns within patterns of a labyrinth, her gaze followed them like breadcrumb trails as they changed with each new song. The acoustics were such perfection within the space, that at times it felt like her feet left the ground while dancing.

[Novella Libertine]

Novella Libertine, one of the newer denizens who made Whitedown their place of employment, would attend this, her first event, in something of a departure from her signature blue skirts and pink hat. In a lace gown of soft pink, the shade of a rose quartz, and her chestnut curls captured in jewels, she arrived early to assist, though all was well in hand, and busied herself with welcoming all who arrived with a warm smile and a kind greeting. Generous with her time, she would have spoken and danced with any who asked and stayed until most of the guests had departed.
