Challenge for Overlord (ART Grant)

Post by Partly Cloudy »

Dear Pearl,

The time has come for me to utilize the grant I earned during the most recent all ranks tournament. I hereby challenge you for the mantle of Overlord.

I look forward to sitting down with you soon to discuss the details. I’ll bring you something special and sweet to enjoy while we chat.

Sincerely,
gatito

Dear Gatito,

I've been looking forward to this! Let's meet at your bakery to talk details ... and menus! I'll bring the sangria from Gardenhome.

Sincerely,

Pearl

The ever-wonderful Eden Parker has agreed to call for us.

If anyone has books that they are willing to donate to an all ages reading program for those with learning difficulties, please bring them to the Arena for collection during this challenge. The program is being run in cooperation with Dockside's Emergency Medical Center.

Many thanks,

Pearl

Tonight’s challenge is being personally catered by the gatito’s companion and Pearl’s cousin, Salvador Delahada. With some help from the staff at Kitten’s Confections Bakery & Café, Nicole’s Bistro & Pizzeria, and Ariana’s Divine Delights Bakery.

Pearl,

The Rhydin Literacy Program has some to spare! I'll give them a call and have them set up a delivery. If they can't make it to the challenge, I'll have them bring it by DEMC, if that's okay.

At some point in the evening a hefty donation was left with the rest of the book collections.

It was signed to be from The Smiling Lady.

A collection of children’s books about beasts that helped teach literacy fundamentals, such as The Alphabet Book of Creatures, were delivered to the Arena early that evening. Though no note was left with them, they seemed to have been donated in connection with Books & Brews’ Storyteller program.

((If you want, your character can have seen Ettyn doing this; I just can’t see her putting a note on it. ^^))

This challenge happened tonight and it was all very pretty and well-dressed!

Gatito was the challenger, and he came by the challenge by virtue of the All-Ranks Tournament and the test-free challenge grant! Gatito fought under the banner of the golden rose. His second was Salvador Delahada, and his persons of honor were his mother and his Rhydin family!

Defending the title was Overlord, Pearl Fand Ilnaren! She was looking for her second defense of the title. Pearl fought under the banner of the silver unicorn and her colors were blue and silver. Her second was her sister, Maggie Harker, and her court of honor included her husband, Velen; her parents, Dennis and Rhiannon Harker; her parents-in-law, Ebon and Phen Ilnaren; and all the residents of Sarengrave House!

This being a test-free challenge, we went to right to the format selection and Pearl chose a one-shot duel!

The challenge started off in grand fashion with a trade of strikes that put both our fighters on the board! Pearl found a lead in the second round with a well-positioned defense. The two traded again twice more with Pearl maintaining her lead while Gatito tried to find a clean opening. Try as he might, the opening never came and Pearl closed it out with a high attack that overcame Gatito's low defense!

FINAL: Winter Pearl def. Partly Cloudy, 5 - 3 in 7 rounds.

A close and good fight indeed! Congratulations, Pearl! Well-tried, Gatito!
