2022 Rhydin Pride: Give A Little Love

Throughout Pride Week (June 12–18), Kitten’s Confections Bakery & Café will be accepting donations on behalf of the Rhydin LGBTQ Youth Outreach Center.


Things we will accept:

• pantry staples (canned goods, beans, rice, pasta, etc.)
• toiletries (soap, shampoo & conditioner, deodorant, etc.)
• clothing (clean, gently-used or new clothing only, no underthings)
• bedding (clean, gently-used or new, twin size sheets, blankets, and comforters)
• school supplies (pens, highlighters, composition books, etc.)
• art supplies (watercolors, acrylics, brushes, appropriate papers, etc.)
• age-appropriate books (for ages 12+)


Each customer who donates will receive a voucher for 10% off of their next bakery order.

In addition to these direct donations, a portion of the proceeds from each sale of an item from the bakery’s Pride Collection goes to support local LGBTQ charities, including the Rhydin LGBTQ Youth Outreach Center.

Jackie came zooming by to pop a stop at Kitten's Confections, driving a big green Chevy van.



Not just there to pick up goodies for the Prom, she was also there to drop off a pallet of sheet sets, duvets and covers in all sorts of colors and sizes, and a pallet of shelf stable boxed goods.

Of course she'd stop and have a couple of macarons and a cup of tea before she went hauling off to help get the prom going!

A representative of the MacLeod foundation dropped off one hundred backpacks filled school and art supplies. One hundred carry on size bags filled with toiletry kits, (Including hairbrushes, combs, and shaving supplies.) lightweight jackets, jeans, t-shirts, and socks still in the packages. Tags with clothing sizes were attached to the outside of the bags.

“Disenfranchised queer youth” was a song that Rhys knew by heart. So when he heard that Gatito and the crew over at Kitten’s Confections were starting a donations drive for the Rhydin LGBTQ Youth Outreach Center, he spoke to the fellas at the garage and together, they compiled several boxes full of supplies.

All in all, they had a pretty great haul, Rhys thought. They’d managed to fill five big boxes with canned goods, dry goods, peanut butter, and other shelf-stable treats, such as fruit juice, jam, and cookies. Another three boxes were filled with clothing of various sizes, including jeans, t-shirts, shorts, and hoodies. The final two boxes were filled with board games and a few complete YA book series, graciously donated by the now-grown daughter of one of the mechanics.

It was Thursday when he and a tall, quiet man named Rusty arrived at Kitten’s Confections to drop off what they’d collected. Since he had taken care to record each donation and the man who had brought it, Rhys was able to present Gatito with a list and received a voucher for each of the guys at the garage. He also picked up a box filled with pastries, including some of the bakery’s Pride brownies, to take back to them.
