Greetings,

I'm an apprentice sorcerer who is looking to grow in my personal control over magical arts as well as expand my horizons. I'm okay at elemental spells particularly those dealing with acid and fire but lack much talent with any other types of magic. I have taught myself some basic relocation and illusion spells through the use of books but would love to learn more.

Name: Jackson Payne
Department(s): Department of Defensive Magic, Department of Artifacts.
Class or specialty: Artificer, skilled with enchanting, manipulating magic, and magical combat.
Part-time/Full-time: Part-time
Applicable Experience: A decade spent fighting using magic, and enchanting normal items into magical ones.
Why are you right for the job:

Ever since I was thirteen I have been using magic, and enchanting items. I am a being made of magic, so thanks to it I am capable of manipulating spells, and put magic into items. Not only am I skilled enchanter, having enchanted my gauntlets, which I use to contain my magic. I’ve also enchanted various weapons, and I’m the person behind the new, stronger wards that the Watch now deploys in the cells. There is also the decade’s worth of combat experience I have. I’ve learned the hard way how to fight against various types of magic, and beings. That’s why I want to help teach these students, so that they don’t get the steep learning curve I got myself.”

Department(s): Department of Aetherial & Elemental Manipulation

Class or Specialty: Red Magus / Elemental Ranger

Part-time/Full-time: Full-time

Applicable Experience: This is certainly a difficult one to explain, but I shall endeavor to try my best.

I am mostly learned as a Knight formally in the service of of Cormyr as the Captain of The Flock, an officially sanctioned mercenary force. I eventually joined the Impilturan Demonslayers and trained as a Ranger whose abilities were honed for combat against demons, undead, and abominations.

However as of recently, through events I would be willing to recount, I have come into my own as a Red Magus.

My father, the late High Lord Magus Nathanael Veneficus, has bestowed upon me a wealth of knowledge about the Aether and Elemental Energies as these were his primary disciplines as Magus for the Kingdom of Castivece. I know everything he knew. At great personal cost.

I would see his dream of sharing his knowledge with others through.

I sincerely apologize for the long-windedness of this answer.

Why you are right for the job: I have gone through a ton of hardships in my life - especially as a child - and these events have gone a long way in defining who I am. My unrelenting nature insists that I will go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the notion mentioned above becomes a reality.

I have access to a wealth of magical knowledge through the Tower of Mysteries in Dragon's Gate, as well as a wonderful assistant by the name of Q. T. McTwo-Thumbs whom he himself is a quite learned mage.

I have the time, and the opportunity to impart my father's wisdom to the next generation of up-and-coming wizards, sorcerers, and mages - and given the chance I would not see it squandered.

I appreciate your taking the time to review my application and look forward to hearing from you.

I will be continuing my teaching at the Studium, and the classes I’m offering for the coming school year are as follows:

Summer 2022:
Special Seminar: Concerning Immortality - A categorical analysis of different types of immortality, with an overarching question of how ethics may be interpreted within each style of indefinite life extension.

Intro to Magical Studies (Apprentice Level) - an overview of the different theories of magic, different schools and specialties, and development of core skills common to most schools of magic. Intended for new apprentices in the magical arts with little or no formal study.

Intro to Chronomancy - An overview of the predominant theories of temporal magic and how they may be applied in a basic level of utility. This course is designed as a lead in to further study into the art of Chronomancy, but is structured that it may compliment other courses of study on its own. Prerequisites: Completion of Intro to Temporal Studies, Ethical Considerations of Temporal Manipulation, and approval from Prof. Adia.

Fall 2022:
Special Seminar: The Layered Nexus - An exploration into the multi layered nature of the worlds within the Nexus, seeking to understand how most worlds have multiple “versions” at once.

Intro to Magical Studies (Apprentice Level) - an overview of the different theories of magic, different schools and specialties, and development of core skills common to most schools of magic. Intended for new apprentices in the magical arts with little or no formal study.

Ethical Magic I - A first level look at the ethical use of magic, this course will begin with the most basic questions of how magic may best be used ethically, with required reading from a sample of prominent philosophers in the field of thaumaturgy.

Intro to Magical Studies (Adept Level) - An overview of magical studies with a stronger focus in theory and spell craft, focusing on developing skills necessary for cross-disciplinary study of magic. Intended for graduates from an accredited academy of magic or those with a solid foundation of magical study prior to admission. Must have credentials of prior study or pass a placement exam to enroll.

Intro to Temporal Studies - Introduction to the study of time and temporal anomalies in a magical context. This course will cover the basic theories of space-time and the nature of time itself, with the intention of providing a solid foundation for the study such topics at a scholarly level. Does not teach Chronomancy as a magical practice, but does lay the foundations for later study in the art.

Chronomancy I - First level course in advanced Chronomancy. Students will begin with techniques used to influence local space-time and interact with temporal anomalies in a controlled environment. Prerequisite: Intro to Chronomancy and approval from Prof. Adia.

Spring 2023
Special Seminar: To Be Announced

Intro to Magical Studies (Apprentice Level) - an overview of the different theories of magic, different schools and specialties, and development of core skills common to most schools of magic. Intended for new apprentices in the magical arts with little or no formal study.

Ethical Magic II - A continuation of the ethical use and study of magic, with more focus on specific case studies taken both from history and current events. A specific case study will be assigned to students to be completed over the course of the semester. Prerequisite: Ethical Magic I

Ethical Considerations of Temporal Manipulation - Intended to be taken alongside Ethical Magic II, expanding the subject to include considerations unique to temporal studies. Will cover closed and open time loops, the creation and resolution of time paradoxes, and a laboratory segment where students will interact with a strictly contained demiplane to experience various temporal anomalies firsthand. Prerequisites: Ethical Magic I, Intro to Temporal Studies.

Chronomancy II - Advanced techniques in Chronomancy, including navigating the fabric of space-time and safely manipulating constructs and artifacts within temporal space. Graduated from this course will be able to apprentice to a seasoned chronomancer for further study and eventual mastery.

Note left on the Studium Bulletin Board:
To whom this may concern,

Your malboro tentacles are ready for pickup. It's been two weeks since your scheduled pickup and you are not answering our calls. A foul smell has taken the warehouse due to this. We would more than appreciate if you come and take your requested items.

Thank you.
