Beltane 2021: Beltane Parade

Post by The Druid »

After all of the festivities Saturday night, a parade will be held in Old Temple! Floats of all sorts and marching bands traveled through the streets of the district, ending at the City Square. At the very end, there are vendors of all sorts, and a particularly well-built booth promising kisses from a particularly fiery giantess in celebration of the season and her very own element!

The Coalition for Humility over Humanity, a group of college students, put together a float celebrating diversity in the city, and working together:

The Cadentia Cowfolk Jamboree added their own interesting float... complete with a working roller coaster!

Many marching bands joined in, including the Eastern RhyDin High Snow Dragon Band!

((OOC NOTE: Please feel free to add your floats to this thread! There will be a live event on Sunday, May 2nd and the host (Senna) will be referencing your floats in play!))

Pulled by an old tractor shrouded with green burlap and flowers, the first float from "Run Out Of Time" came tootling by. Happy Beltane witches rode on broomsticks and walked around the float, waving and throwing candies to the audience. The tree in the back of the float danced along, as well.

Following them, more or less under its own power, a pretty little float with a horse and buggy and large flower behind. Jackie sat in the buggy wearing a fancy Princess Tiana dress, waving and throwing candies as well. A few little kids rode along with her, all dressed in various Disney costumes.

Precious Memories Entertainment sent along a few floats accompanied by many of their acts: clowns, jugglers, dancers, with Elvis riding on the dragon's head and belting out his favorite hits along the parade route!

The fair folk of Little Elfhame put together a float celebrating (in a joking matter) their blue-haired leader with a Jewels of Nature float. The fae and faeries on the float were dressed fantastically and blew bubbles that turned into butterflies and floating flowers petals as they fell across the crowd.

Members of the Harker's Academy Equestrian Team and their instructors marched and performed along the parade route. Some wore costumes representing their home districts.

To celebrate spring, the students built a float with fairies perched on calla lilies accompanied by a dove. Tina Margrave from the gymnastics squad was featured and performed acrobatic tricks on a swing.

Students of Dragon's Gate Sword School accompanied by the Baroness of Dragon's Gate, Maggie Harker, and other instructors marched in the parade handing out sweet treats and butterfly shaped trinkets. Some of the youngest students dressed as clowns.
