Gilded Couture: the Fashion of Joy

In conjunction with Fashion Week 2021, PUBLIC: an Art Gallery is pleased to present an evening celebrating the haute couture of joy.

The Event
The Gallery is located in the Marketplace district, on a narrow cobblestone side street. It is a small storefront, sandwiched between a bookstore and a flower shop, a one-room affair with an open plan that heads straight back with art featured on both walls to either side.
An open bar is situated at the back of the gallery, while catering staff circulate with trays of high-end hors d'oeuvres meant to be eaten as finger-foods, cocktail napkins in abundance. A DJ also situated at the back of the gallery plays drum and bass throughout the evening.
On each side of the gallery is a row of raised platforms, each presenting a mannequin display of elaborate haute couture.
Security is on hand, keeping a low profile, and occasionally reminding people not to touch the displays.
The Exhibit

Text printed directly on the wall just before the first piece of the collection reads:
Whether for a coming-out or a coronation, the ateliers in Rhydin know how to create a celebratory ensemble. Elegant and elaborate, gaudy and attention-seeking, these haute couture looks were tailored for once-in-a-lifetime moments. Let them take your breath away.
