Surprise! Mallory's Baby Shower - Cadentia Bazaar 2/9/21

Reggie and Jaycy fibbed when the musician asked Mallory to come read fortunes. What was really planned was a surprise baby shower for the witch and her wife, Eri!

The cultural center seemed normal until Mallory's arrival when suddenly the decorations would be whisked into view!

A veritable feast of delights awaited, including a chef-manned hibachi station!

A medium sized box wrapped in black shiny paper with gold ribbon. It could be found and opened at the expecting couple's leisure.

The tag simply read: From your brother and sister

Inside was a small simple framed piece of artwork and a stuffed white rabbit with a black bow with white polka dots.

Bailey and Zevarrna's appearance was brief -- they had tickets to the Shanachie theater's Hamlet performance tonight -- but they brought some canvas tote bags with an orange chibi kraken on them and the slogan "What's Kraken?" written above the sea creature. The bags were filled with both cloth and disposable diapers, depending on which kind Eri and Mallory decided to go with for their child. Additionally, they gave Mallory a onesie with that same chibi graphic and writing on it.

Among the gifts would be one from the Aunt.



No. It wasn't a theme gift with Penny. They weren't in touch when the gift buying was happening and when Mai finds out that her business partner chose a rabbit themed gift too, Mai would be sure to give her the side-eye.

She'd say her blanket is better. Obviously.

From one of the best bakeries in Little Korea, Jin brought a box of dark chocolate blackberry cupcakes


Tucked away to the side was a seemingly suiting onesie for the wee baby

Lucy was there in attendance and after a vague attempt at greeting the mother-to-be, she cautiously placed her baby gift on the bar.

Inside the elegantly wrapped box were handmade soft fuzzy booties, a soft baby blanket, and a hand carved wooden giraffe teether.



It was accompanied by a neatly handwritten card:

Dear Mallory and Eri,

Wishing you well in this time of joy. Blessings of good health, wisdom, and grace for the new member of your family.

A little folder with a set of reservations for Toyako Onsen Hot Mineral spas for Mallory and Eri, which were good for next year, for a little getaway or as a rest and relax.

Desdenova shuffled in and left behind a wall sculpture? A cute thing to hang one the kid's wall...?

The tag read 'Hi! I'm Juno. I'll watch over you and make sure the monsters mind you, the shadows are your friends, and you're safe in your bed.'

It was a statue. Except for when it quietly patrolled the room where she was stationed, making sure all was well.

Both Cane and Isaac were spotted in attendance, albeit briefly--long enough to greet the mothers-to-be and leave their present for the baby on the table with all the others. Wrapped inside nondescript brown paper is a pair of hand-carved teething rings (or chew toys as Cane likes to call them) fashioned after their baby hedgehog, Van, and infamous monster of a rooster, Kyle, as well as a cream colored blanket imbued with a fine tuned spell to soothe and ward off nightmares. The accompanying card reads, Enjoy the ride. Love to you all. -Cane & Isaac.



Placed atop their gift is a small, plush owl. Though there is no card attached, the toy bears a striking resemblance to a certain songbird's friend Strix.

Dris and Rhys had heard about the party, but couldn't make it in person. They had sent a gift ahead, though. Within pretty foil wrapping, Mallory and Eri would discover a box full of wooden baby sized musical instruments, hand crafted by the master luthier himself. In another larger wrapped box is a baby Baghera Speester wooden riding toy, chosen by Rhys, for when the baby grows mobile. Additionally, the couple included a dozen individual babysitting coupons to be redeemed by the proud parents to be at any point of their choosing in the future.

Mist could only show up for a few moments, and along with apologizing again to Jaycy and Regina for the fracas of a week odd again, he had a helper bring in the gift he'd brought in the back of his Mercury Woody. He tried to wrap them, but it was pretty obvious what it was...

Colleen wasn't able to stop the party as she was delivering a baby at Dockside Hospital.

Mallory and Eri,

I wish you many blessings on your journey as parents. May your joys be many and your troubles few. I've arranged for two weeks of meals to be delivered to your home after the baby arrives. A card with the restaurant and catering information is enclosed.

Maggie added a gift when she toted the box for her grandmother.

Dear Mallory and Eri,

When I was very little, my favorite toy was called Mr. Bear. I thought your little one might like their own bear! The other thing is a swaddling blanket in a bear shape. Good luck!
