Winter Ball: RhyDin in Wonderland

Post by Regina Wellston »

Winter Ball: RhyDin In Wonderland!
It's the time of year for snow and hot chocolate and all things cold. Time for holidays and Yule and celebration. Why not celebrate with the staff of The Tranquility Ballroom and join us for a Winter Ball like you've never seen before! On December 12th at 8pm ET the ballroom will open it's doors for a night of fun and festivities for a ball to celebrate Winter. Regina and Governor Jaycy have teamed up to create an event that you wont want to miss!

Image

As guests approach, they will be transported into a vision of winter delight. Walk through the tunnel of lights, or stop and take photos or just cuddle on one of the benches that have been set up along the way. The tunnel will lead you to the grand double doors of Tranquility where warmth and fun call to you.

Image

Tables line the dance floor, decorated in white linen and lined with frosted blue and silver flowers and dishware. Each table seats up to twelve and there are no reservations needed. Just come in and find a place to settle so you can enjoy the feast that Morgan Chae has prepared for the night.

Image

Once dinner is finished, the tables will be cleared so that the dance floor can be used. Frosted and decorated pine trees line the floor while the stunning light show casts images of snowflakes and stardust all around the dancers.

Tranquility has one thing that is the most eye catching. It's grand stage shut away by large red curtains. Behind the curtains sits two thrones. What are they for you ask? This year, at The Winter Ball, there will be a Queen's court. Two will be named King and Queen of the ball and two will be named Duke and Duchess. There are no gender requirements for these roles nor any requirements really. If you think you know someone who deserves the title get a hold of Governor Jaycy and submit your nominations!

This will be a live event in The Streets of RhyDin on Saturday December 12, 2020 starting at 8pm ET. Feel free to post to this thread your outfits, or any fun you might have had at the ball. Let's have fun with this!

Jaycy had a part to play. A tree in the corner near the curtains was designated as the Wishing Tree, where those who came to visit Jaycy Clause received a magical gift in the spirit of the holidays! Befitting her role, she dressed in red and even dyed her hair silver for the event. Plain red flats and almost no jewelry (beyond the white plush choker and bracelet) or makeup completed the outfit.

Karma had him shopping for new clothes. He didn't mind. He knew his normal black leather duster wasn't going to do.

The shirt was a soft cotton, gray in nature, though not drab. He even went so far as to run his fingers through his hair to make it look presentable.

He had on a more formal, though still black, long jacket. This one had more design to it.

The pants, however, were still black and leather, and he had on boots, steel toed.
Though you may run, you can never hide..

Morgan LaFey would arrive fashionably late, of course, a sheer shawl of frosted stars settled over his shoulders. Jewels seemed to be a part of everything he wore, and the open skirt settled on his hips, revealing beneath skin tone leggings that looked to be a continuation of the bodice, tricking down his legs to platformed heels.

Nobody could say the young man had forgotten how to fashion. His dark hair was styled with a constellation of tiny opals, all catching the light in an explosion of colors and shimmer. Like a crown of stars.

The Tranquility Ballroom has been well known for its kitchen. All due to the capable hands of Morgan Chae and his knowledge around a kitchen. Regina had put him to a challenge to prepare a menu for the Winter Ball and he was determined to show her he could handle it. She was not disappointed. The menu below is just a sampling of all the goodies to be found at the ballroom. Vegetarian dishes were just as abundant as all the others and if something isn't there that you want? The kitchen will be open all night and taking requests!

Being the hostess, Regina wasn't trying to outshine anyone attending the ball but the dress she had chosen had called to her from the windows of a shop as she had passed it. Reminding her of iced fir trees, she loved the blue color and the fact that it seemed to be made just for her. With the right pair of shoes, and gems in her hair, she descended the steps and made her way to the bar, prepared for the night's events.

A party a week before her wedding? Sylista was absolutely going to be there!

She would be accompanied by her guard, Edward, dressed simply in a black suit with a navy tie and pocket square.

Anya kept her dress simple and opted to put the glitter in her hair and shoes. And, of course, the gorgeous necklace Morgan had loaned her for the evening after learning she didn't have any jewelry planned. Being the neophyte of the Captain had significantly expanded her wardrobe options.

Kira wanted to keep things simple. That was how she preferred them. This didn’t stop her from spending most of a day cycling through hairstyles, nail colors, and pairs of shoes, second guessing every move. Shoes! Even when she lived amongst nobility, she never fussed over footwear.

She found her look and pieced it together. She was satisfied as she could be until she had the reactions of others to ease her mind. There was no time to do a trial run with a friend or confidant. She would trust in her taste and her dignity to carry the evening.

Her dark red hair, normally pulled back into a ponytail or let loose in untamed waves, was brushed out straight. She was still learning magic from the beginning, but she had taught herself enough for a simple glamor to keep it straight and just slightly buoyant. She pulled the front part back into a nickel clasp shaped like leaves. The bangs that did not reach were pinned behind her ears with small leaf bobby-pins made of antiqued copper.

Her dress was her most prized garment she owned (limited, though, that list was), chosen with the assistance of the Lady Sylista. It was a near sleeveless lace green dress with a beige bodice underneath. The lacing had the effect of making her look as though she were clothes in fresh foliage from the Wilds themselves. The skirt ended at her knees, and after some deliberation, she chose to leave her legs bare. She compromised with her sense of modesty by wearing a pair of black shorts beneath the skirt, but that would not be visible to anyone.

Around her neck she wore the simple green stone and silver necklace she had so recently been gifted. About her waist, she wore a braided leather belt, holding a small pouch of necessities, a silver athame in a simple black leather sheath, and an antique brass colored pocket watch attached to a chain. For shoes, she went with silver colored sandals with clear stones set in them along the straps. She briefly considered something with heels, but decided she would rather not add to her modest height.

Her nails, both fingers and toes, were painted a shade of violet close to that of her eyes. She had considered green, but she decided that was overdoing it a bit. She wore no other cosmetics, as was her want, and if anyone suggested there was the barest hint of gloss on her lips, she would have denied it out of hand.
