Challenge for Cadentia

Post by PC »

I'm feeling a little timeshare-esque spot down south would be nice, or a night fighting underneath the Cadentia stars would be good too.

It's beautiful out here! And doesn't feel as hot in the Villa as you'd think, with all the cross-breezes. Having it outside here is a great idea. We can cater it and eat after the match if you're up for it.

I'll even pack an overnight bag for a mini-vacation! The challenge will be taking place at the Cadentia Villa ( #Arena Channel ) on Thursday, May the 7th at 8 PM (ET). Claire will be officiating the fun.

Tonight’s challenge takes place in the Cadentia Villa itself, the furthest-flung baronial manor in the Duel of Swords! Located on the outskirts of the desert town of Cadentia, it can be accessed through a portal behind a closet door in the Arena -- normally locked, left wide open for tonight’s event. Passing through a hallway lit by hanging globes of magical blue flame leads to the outside, where the vast and starry desert sky casts its muted light over the sands.

More of the arcane lanterns from within rest upon sandstone obelisks that mark a path out into the desert, up to the barren foundation of some long-forgotten structure, where spectators can sit on the low stone blocks that define it. Staff from Riad Alhazu stroll along the perimeter, serving food and drinks to the guests from hammered brass trays and painted clay amphorae.

In the center is the challenge ring, a complex sigil traced in the sand that will not blow away until the end of the night. As soon as the challengers step in, the perimeter ignites with harmless flames that reflect the colors of the moons and stars, powering the ring’s protective wards. Four more dueling rings stand near the center of each former wall of the ruined building, marked with smaller sigils but igniting with the same warding flames, open for anyone to use throughout the night.

Welcome to dueling at the Cadentia Villa -- take care not to stray from the desert path, and mind your snacks around the camels!

It took 15 rounds in the 1 shot challenge, but after a back and forth battle that saw the match change leads multiple times, Na-rae Takamine comes out on top as the newest Baron of Cadentia! Congrats to Na-rae and well reigned, Mallory!

((Match particulars for history's sake;

Challenger Warlady Na-rae Takamine duels tonight under a black banner with the golden symbol of a hollyhock set within a crescent moon, the emblem of the Takamine Family. Her Lady of Honor is her wife, Izumi Takamine, and her second is Lisa Takamine, no relation and in absentia.

Mallory dueled under a banner of a camel with a pink saddle on a field of moon pies. Mallory's Lady of Honor is her wife, Eri Maeda and her second is Yeardley Owens.
