The headless toys were pinned onto the board with a strange, tangy, sticky red “dye” coating them. Congealed white stuffing peeked from jagged threads where the heads were. The dye might have been actual chicken blood. More of the red was scrawled directly on the board, in a single word: “tasty.”
I hereby donate my 1 Opal shard to Mallory Maeda as a belated birthday present. Happy belated birthday. May God have mercy on your soul.
