Veterans Benefit Dinner

Nov. 22, (8 pm Est), at the Red Dragon Inn

Amaris, the new Baron of Battlefield Park, would like to honor those within the community that are military veterans, with a big turkey dinner, donated by Reiko. Bak'd will be supplying Pumpkin, pecan and apple pies

A donation barrel for coats, blankets, socks, and other warm clothing will be set up by the door, and a box for monetary donations will be set at the bar. Conner will be serving drinks beginning at his usual time --- first drink is free for any who brings a donation. All monetary donations will go to funds to help the homeless battle veterans. Drink specials will be Pumpkin Pie Pudding shots, Apple cider ginger beer cocktails, and butter rum for those seeking warmth.

Please come by for a wonderful dinner and maybe even some Kareoke.

Greetings, Rhy'dinians! The menu for this benefit dinner will be provided by none other than Yours Truly, who can't wait to share her wonderful cooking talent with all of you! Every item is inspired by those Reiko served alongside with on the ground back at home.

* Fully-basted and stuffed turkey
Basted with Reiko's secret recipe and
stuffed with homemade turkey stuffing
* Flavoured ham for those who hate turkey Cooked with pineapple rings and cherries
within the rings
* Jerk Chicken
Tanzanian version flavoured with ghost
peppers, served with beans
* Tofurkey
Vegetarian-friendly substitute seasoned
with rosemary and minced chives, adorned
with romaine lettuce and parsley
* Various vegetable sides
Made from freshly-grown and unsprayed
crops; includes carrots, celery, corn, green
and red bell peppers, mashed potatoes,
sweet potatoes, and yams
* Make your own fruit salad!
Bowls of various berries (respectively
separated), apple slices, grapes, etc. will be
available with vanilla, strawberry, and
blueberry-flavoured youghurt, granola, and
honey
* Butterscotch pie slides
Real butterscotch with caramel drizzle
over whipped cream and tiny apple pieces
on top
* Chocolate pie slides
Chocolate with kahlua, whipped cream,
chocolate drizzle, and a cherry on top

Reiko will be dressed in a complete colonial times-themed outfit...gothic-style.

Conner will be there, ready with his donation of a bag full of wool socks and a couple knit scarves, ready to serve drinks and collect donations for a good cause!

Maggie was bringing dozens of chocolate chip cookies for the dessert table. Several members of her family had gathered up warm coats and footware including winter boots for donation.

The redheaded firefighter showed up with a large donation box full of warm wool sweaters, jackets and blankets. Members from both firehouses, 220 and 224, chipped in not only the clothes and blankets but raised an additional $654 dollars with a local car wash dedicated to the cause. Both firehouse numbers were written on the front of the donation envelope.

Paiva, just off shift, arrived in her usual navy standard pants, white tee and black suspenders. The navy jacket she wore over top had her name engraved on the front left and Firehouse 220 emblazoned on the back.

[Amaris]

Amaris pushed the door open with her butt as she carried a large box that was open and almost threatening to loose the top layer of stuff. Black and Purple glittered sneakers on her feet as usual with a pair of black jeans, her black puffy coat under which she wore a Black t-shirt that had a turkey, flexing two human arms, and wearing a pilgrims hat, on her head she wore a hand made headband that had a pumpkin pie slice made from construction paper and cardboard.

She placed the box on the floor, removed her coat and backpack just setting them on a bar stool for the time being, and then dove into the box pulling out brown table cloths that were scattered with leaf patterns. She started to cover each table with the cloths, after several minutes she'd look around and then start to move some tables around. She let her ears and tail come out, giving her just a little more strength than normal. With that strength, she gathered up several tables and lined them up parallel to the bar. Grabbing a different table cloth she placed a few of them over the lined-up tables, then the runners she'd lay them out so they made the full length of the table. Back at the box she grabbed several hot pads and laid them out on the long table so when Reiko's assistants and hopefully herself got there they could lay out the food.
Next, she went back into the boxes and found these adorable little pine cone turkeys she'd crafted just for the event, setting one in the center of all the other tables and scattering a few along the bar. Back to the box again she'd gather up a few cute fat turkeys and lay them between the pine cones and grinned, inside would be Pecan and Pumpkin Pie M&M's for people who would lift the head of the turkey up like a Pez dispenser.
After that, she scooted back outside, where two boxes she had made sat and she'd drag them inside placing one on either side of the bar. The boxes were tall and she had made them look like turkeys each said 'Feed me!'. Amaris giggled at them because dang it, they were funny.
Once done she would lean against the bar and look over everything with a smile, a little tired but happy it looked so nice. She turned to the backpack on her bar stool and unzipped it hauling out a decorated box with a slot on top for money to go into and set that on the bar.

Ebon arrived late at the Benefit Dinner, and didn't remain long, but he did bring a large box of blankets and winter coats for the donation drive.

The blankets were wool and hand-woven by several of the fosterlings, led by his older daughter Azure.


The coats were not handmade, but had been collected by other fosterlings, led by Doran, from around the city of Rhydin. There were a variety of sizes and styles.

[Pharlen]

Pharlen stopped by, of course, dragging along her actual veteran friend, Halcyon, who while not homeless or unemployed, was fairly resigned to being dragged around by the quixotic Mariner. Wearing a comfortable dress in fall colors under a gray poncho, Pharlen was casual and festive.

Pharlen left a stack of housing vouchers for Amaris to pass around as she wished, then added a large pile of sleeping bags that also contained toiletries and other necessities. She sat down and pigged out rather shamelessly and swapped weird stories with anyone who dared listen in.

[The Halcyon]

Halcyon trailed in with Pharlen, definitely bemused, still in uniform. She wore a dark blue greatcoat over a vest and shirt, fine chain maille showing here and there, trousers and boots. She never was sure what sort of an adventure the albino woman was going to drag her into, so she was pleasantly surprised to find that she wasn't needed as a meat shield. She was even more pleasantly surprised to find her friend Mist and to meet his daughter.

Halcyon donated a sum of cash into the boxes, charmed by the decorations, and would return later with a more substantial amount.
