All Souls Masquerade
This Saturday, November 2nd from 8 pm to midnight is the All Souls Masquerade, a grand ball to celebrate RhyDin’s departed. The dance will take place in Old Temple’s Carmine Cathedral (#streets-of-rhydin on the Discord server). This former place of worship is known for its beautiful stained glass and its braziers of ruby coals that fill the space with warm and welcoming light, said to ward off the mindless horrors that sometimes prey upon the city.
Guests are encouraged to come in masks to disguise their appearance, a way to celebrate the changing faces of the city and those in its past. The band nestled in the cathedral’s northern transept will play a succession of waltzes ideal for dancing in pairs or in groups; while the southern transept has a bar with mulled cider, punch, cognac, brandy, stout, and large barrels of wine.
The altar is covered with candles lit with crimson flame, with unused candles in a basket nearby, and a coffer for donations to benefit victims of the violence at FearFest. Guests are encouraged to take a candle and ignite it by speaking the name of a wayward or departed soul, and leave it and any other offerings at the altar.
As the evening progresses, guests may see what appear to be golden apparitions dancing in and out of sight, either a reflection of the strange light off the crystal glasses and chandeliers — or wayward souls drawn by the warmth of the celebration...
((While not required, I encourage anyone participating to make a new username for the event and go the masquerade incognito! Users can either create a new forum name to add as an additional nickname on the server, or to make it more of a mystery, you can register a new Discord username in the app or here and join the server while logged in under that name! Please DM me if you have any questions.
Also, feel free to use this thread to post outfits or have your character attend, even if you can’t make it to the live event!))

Re: All Souls Masquerade
The VonTombs Family will be in attendance, but probably not difficult to pick out...
Jack as Herman
Pharlen as Lily
Jackie as Marilynn
Desdenova as Eddie
Alice as Wulfie
And
Uncle Emrys as Grampa. (Don't drink anything he hands you.)
They will bring chains of marigolds for the altars and each will light a candle.

Fantastically Ordinary
Drop by for a cuppa odd.

Tippletoe had a side gig! Actually, she had lots of side gigs. She worked really, really hard performing at The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and both taking classes at and teaching at the Circus. Not to mention she did some busking on the side. But this gig was another little paid gig, some advertising with a musical twist!
In a costume inspired by The Phantom of the Opera, Tippletoe travelled around RhyDin offering pamphlets and advertising for the All Souls Masquerade. And she did it in style, singing the lyrics to Masquerade as she trapezed around.
Masquerade!
Masquerade! Paper faces on parade
Masquerade! Hide your face so the world will never find you
Masquerade! Every face a different shade
Masquerade! Look around, there's another mask behind you
Flash of mauve, splash of puce
Fool and king, ghoul and goose
Green and black, queen and priest
Trace of rouge, face of beast, faces
Take your turn, take a ride
On the merry-go-round in an inhuman race
Eye of gold, true is false
Who is who?
Curl of lip, swirl of gown
Ace of hearts, face of clown, faces
Drink it in, drink it up till you've drowned
In the light, in the sound but who can name the face?
Masquerade! Grinning yellows, spinning reds
Masquerade! Take your fill, let the spectacle astound you
Masquerade! Burning glances, turning heads
Masquerade! Stop and stare at the sea of smiles around you
Masquerade! Seething shadows breathing lies
Masquerade! You can fool any friend who ever knew you
Masquerade! Leering satyrs, peering eyes
Masquerade! Run and hide, but a face will still pursue you
What a night! What a crowd!
Makes you glad
Makes you proud
All the crème, de la crème
Masquerade! Paper faces on parade
Masquerade! Hide your face so the world will never find you
Masquerade! Every face a different shade
Masquerade! Look around, there's another mask behind you
Masquerade! Burning glances, turning heads

Re: All Souls Masquerade
A Gray Cat shall be in attendance. Tall, debonair, gallant in baroque garb, a silver mask, a simple cane. Communicating as all cats will, with mews, purrs, and body language, including the curl and twist of a fluffy tail and the flick and turn of a pair of expressive cat ears peeking out of a short shag of gray hair. Like many gray moggies, his eyes are chartreuse.
He might give you a rose, he might give you a stick. He may give you a mouse, if he is indeed fond of you. Or a lizard. Who knows, with cats?

She wore a mask of porcelain and horns adorned with black lace, a choker clasped with an emerald stone, and a corseted ball gown to match. Her hair was platinum blonde, and her skin was pale, and bore no markings of any kind.
