A City Wide Birthday Party

Early on the afternoon of October 3rd, with no seeming rhyme or reason, city wide festivities seemed to commence for… well, a birthday party. For who? Nobody was quite sure, but it was definitely a birthday party. A number of locations throughout the city made that abundantly evident, sporting everything from party decorations and festive hats to cake, shakes and other goodies. A listing of festivities can be found posted throughout the city;

The Red Dragon Inn: A massive four tier, seemingly endless cake, complete with cake cutter staffed table side for those wanting a slice. The cake takes on a number of flavors but most typically people report it turning out to be their favorite flavor. Much like many things in the Red Dragon, it doesn’t diminish either, no matter how much is taken from it.

The Streets of Rhydin: Vendors and food trucks offer passersby multi-colored cake pops and goodie bags stocked with noise makers and candy. A number of businesses* also claim to carry their own celebration goodies.

Orktoberfest: A generous benefactor has paid admission to all through the weekend, including unlimited rides on the Ring of R’lyeh. A giant pinata in the shape of a goblin has been set up near the beer tents for children and beer drinkers alike to take a whack at it. Each person gets three swings and any time the pinata is busted open, it is replaced with a new one full of sweets and Orktoberfest coupons good for the entirety of the festival’s duration.

The Wilds: Deep in the forest, set in an airy clearing is a large tea party bearing baked goodies, an assortment of teas, and huge bundles of colorful balloons. Some report that the teas (or maybe it’s the scones) induce a euphoric (but short lived) sensation. Local healers and doctors thus far have found no ill effect associated with any of the goodies.

Golden Perch Inn: At everyone’s favorite Trivia Hot Spot, cupcake stands have been set up on each of the tables. Each cupcake comes topped with a tiny rolled up scroll with a vague (but typically well wishing) fortune scrawled upon it. At the bar sits stacks of party hats in various colors. Someone has even decorated the Mermaid Fountain out front with a hat of its own.

The Anchor: Tucked away in the southwest corner of Dockside, the burgeoning waterfront bar has even been touched by hints of the celebration. A handful of brightly dressed, cybernetically enhanced men and women pass out (questionable) party favors and lead raucous renditions of Happy Birthday. Still, no one is sure just who they are singing to.

There's nothing like a party!

Roaming through the Marketplace Square, various dancers, clowns, and other entertainers from Precious Memories are bringing birthday joy to ... everyone! Passing out baggies of candies (small toys for those that can't eat sweets) and party favors - hats, noise makers, plastic floral leis, confetti eggs and more - the cadre is led by none other than ELVIS (Pete Dukirk)!

The Marketplace Square stage will feature ELVIS singing his greatest hits in one hour sets every three hours - don't miss it!

The Outback: Several cakes, in the shape, are ready and waiting in the Outback. Some are filled with chocolate, others with vanilla and still others with various blood-red fruits such as pomegranate, strawberry, raspberry and meswen.

A sign on top of the bar, perhaps placed there by Old Man Simon himself, reads: “Free Celebratory Drinks! Enjoy a brew and a brawl!”

Twilight Isle: There's birthday cake flavored milkshakes and celebratory smoothies being handed out upon arrival at the Isle (and lots of extra whipped cream on top). The goblins have been prone to throwing out sparkling confetti as well, eager to participate in the festive activies happening in town too!

The Arena: The return of the Halloween themed Black Cat Lava Cake.. and lots of it! Long tables are also set up beside the bar with a multitude of icecream choices for an all you can eat icecream buffet!

The Annex: Unlimited tokens** for all arcade games and free bowling throughout the night!

Tippletoe made the rounds, sometimes she was at The Marketplace performing in between Goblin Sets, other times, she was down at Four Points, and sometimes she was in front of the Red Dragon Inn or the Golden Perch. Wherever she was, she sang through a set of Birthday Songs including:

Nicole's Bistro and Pizzeria had a selection of desserts ready for those that came out for the city wide birthday party.

The bistro's garden in the rear of the building was open for anyone wanting to enjoy chocolate, vanilla, marble, or red velvet cake, apple pie, ice cream, and Nicole's signature dish, Death by Chocolate ala Colleen (one of Colleen MacLeod's brownies topped with chocolate fudge ice cream, cocoa flavored whipped cream, drizzled with chocolate syrup and sprinkled with dark chocolate shavings).

Anyone volunteering to entertain was given their choice of dinner entree with two sides, soup or salad, and their choice of soft drinks, tea, coffee, or a carafe of wine.

Pacarelli's Ice Cream Parlor will be handing out coupons for free ice cream cakes: strawberry and vanilla ice cream layered between rich chocolate cake with whipped cream frosting, chocolate syrup, and sprinkles. Look for them in the Marketplace!
