Proposed Setting Changes Poll
Hi, everyone! The poll allows you to pick multiple options. However, please pick no more than one for adding a channel. Also, if we end up keeping the Beach year-round, we’ll still be adding a seasonal channel to rotate based on the interest y’all expressed in continuing seasonal settings.
Sorry for the relative complexity here with the options and ability to pick multiple choices, but I wanted to make sure we covered a good range of options. Given that complexity, I have enabled the ability to alter your own votes.
Poll will stay open for six days!

Bumping to add: if there’s another setting you’d like to see added, please DM me. If I edit the options now it will reset existing votes, but Canaan quoted this in the other thread:
Senka Tihomir wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 8:32 pm What about a Docks/Boardwalk area?
The main building of the setting has a glass wall on one side looking out towards the docks and water and of course has it's own boardwalk and docks for people to walk or boat up to. It could be a middle ground area between the industrial waters and the resort/beachy waters- kind of where they meet. The building could have a main gathering area that has comfy seats, a bookshop/stand, coffee and tea bar, and a snack stand. Maybe one end of the building has shops and restaurants, and the other end some lodging for travelers. Perhaps there is also a ticket terminal for daily boating adventures and those traveling by boat.
This is inspired by the Denver Union Station (Train Station) and Navy Pier in Chicago.
I was thinking the glass wall would allow for people inside or outside to see what's going on and therefore open up play. For those instances when you enter a room and say your character is outside and wants to enjoy the sunshine but their friend is inside and now you can't reasonably explain away a reason for them to interact. A glass wall would allow someone to see and could build that interaction bridge. Or, for someone to randomly see what's going on and perhaps approach someone new. Of course there could also be a glare or someone is completely unaware and sees nothing, that's fine too. The extensions of the setting (shops, lodgings, etc) offer up some unique play opportunities and areas to escape to or incorporate.
Visual Examples:
Denver Union Station Court. This is the main part of the station with restaurants, snack bars, a flower bar, ticket terminal etc: https://afar-production.imgix.net/uploa ... q=80&w=954
Outside of Union Station. You can see it's a large building with restaurants, shops, and a hotel: http://res.cloudinary.com/simpleview/im ... 647822.jpg

I really like the wilds over beyond the gates. Beyond the gates just feels like it excludes the forest and instead is any road leaving the city, the Wilds tells me and makes it clear that it's meadows, forests and other places that are crazy, wild, outside and out there.
Another point I'd like to make while yes there are less active rooms than others. Keep in mind those less active rooms are also less used because the events are in other rooms which makes their use go up, so of course, there will be more activity in some than others. Perhaps rotating events like the first week of the month have Thursdays doing a juice/smoothy bar at the Solarium, in addition to the dueling? Maybe in addition to the outback have races through the wilds or nature walks led by the rangers in our community, heck Halloween's coming up we could have haunted hayrides through the wilds.
I know these ideas take lots of work and the staff and administrations and all those involved do great jobs already but I feel that we could do alternative events outside of dueling venues to make the other rooms active. There are a lot of times I go in the lobby and people don't want to RP in the dueling venues because they don't see a reason for their characters to be there, but everyone is there because that's the only event going on.
These are just some humble suggestions I am offering and hope that they are taken into consideration and kindness as it is not meant to be a criticism in any way.
Have a good one

Re: Proposed Setting Changes Poll
Something I keep trying to keep are the forefront of my mind is that even really awesome settings don't necessarily make great live play settings? I think a lot of us would like to see some more futuristic/spacer setting, but even in the heyday of our community on other websites, such settings just didn't see a lot of use for live play.
That's not to say we shouldn't try certain settings because things change! It's just something I keep in mind as I vote on these matters.

Re: Proposed Setting Changes Poll
Thank you for your votes and your feedback, everyone! It's huge in helping me understand what you all want and what can serve us best as a community. Based on votes cast for which setting to add (4 via PM for a docks / waterfront setting), we had 33 respondents total.
I'll be taking some time to discuss and write things up based on the results, but you can expect to see new and returning (
) settings around the end of the month! <3

Are the results going to be posted before then, or just wait and see what changes at the end of the month?

Re: Proposed Setting Changes Poll
Out of the choices for a setting to add, there were the most votes for a sci-fi setting, so we will be adding that.
A majority of respondents (assuming 33 total) voted to change City Square to RhyDin City Streets, so we’ll be doing that.
No other options achieved a majority, so the Perch and the Wilds will remain unchanged for the time being, while Seaside Beach will be replaced by Orktoberfest like last year and the Solarium will be replaced by the new sci-fi setting.

Re: Proposed Setting Changes Poll
Thank you, Mallory, that's about what I thought it would be. 2/3rds majority is hard to get!
