It has recently been brought to the attention of the DoS Staff that a player dueled themselves on a separate user name, which resulted in one of their characters having a win added to their record. While we as the staff are aware that this singular occurrence was not done out of malice or with the intent to gain any advantage from it, it is still something that represents a disservice to the spirit of competition in the sport and to one's fellow players. In the past, we’ve had players both banned or warned over the practice based on the severity of the issue. In the matter of the current instance, the Duel of Swords staff has spoken to the player involved. Save for removal of the single win for the duel in question, we don’t feel the need to pursue the matter any further other than a reminder to the community at large:
Please do not duel yourselves.
As a matter of transparency and to keep this visible, there will be an upcoming update to the rules addressing this issue in detail.
Regards,
Duel of Swords Staff

This is seconded by the entire Dueling of Magic Staff, applying to Magic Duels as well. And an upcoming addition to the rules will be made in Duel of Magic.

For purposes of clarity, this policy also applies to the Duel of Fists.
