Lady Ravenlock,

Having been born to or brought to live among the faire folk, I am a bit surprised that you believe that I’m playing some sort of game. How did you put it? Playing the child card? I am blessed or cursed with abilities I didn’t ask for. No child should wake up to what they think is a younger sibling sticking their face in their face and find out that visage is see-through. That’s how it started. Similar things have been happening to me several times a week since I was five. Not all spirits want to be seen, but those that don’t are often watching. Mostly, I attract the spirits of young children. Too often, they are shooed away by adults, adults that have forgotten how frightening a child’s world can be. Thankfully, most of them can’t remember how they died. Many can’t even remember who they are.

Since I never knew any of your children, I don’t know what they looked like. Should they know who they are, I would like to be able to help them, but given your own words and the capriciousness of the fae, the best I can do is send them your way.

I don’t expect you to like me and you will think of me as you will: meddler, brown-noser, and so on. I’m relieved that I don’t remind you of anyone. I do ask that you remember this, the clash of weapons and sound of the echoing voices of the living goes a long way to shut out the voices of the dead. I am a part of the adult world whether I wish to be or not. When the choices are death, insanity, or survival, the answer is clear enough to me. Survive and endure.

I guess we are even as I don’t like you either. It’s been that way since you hurt Lirssa, who was a good friend to me. You treated her shamefully! I haven’t seen her among the spirits; it usually means a soul is at peace. She was one of the genuinely good and kind people in this world.
