Challenge for Old Market

Post by Lord Arithon »

::written without embellishment but neatly on what appears to be a skin scroll::

To Baroness Myria Graziano,

I hereby challenge you for your Ring. While I have yet to meet you in the dueling rings, I know well the Graziano clan and Wrecking Crew of old, and hope that our meeting might be as fierce and competitive as previous encounters with your kin.I look forward to your response and to an engaging challenge!

With sincere regard,
Arithon Falessan

Did my kin kick your ass? Maria probably did, but that's a low bar...she smoked everyone.

Anywhoo, guess I'll have to join her since you were so kind to extend the opportunity.

Love and kisses.

What's a loiselle? Is that, like, a fancy washcloth or something?

::a note is left on the board without fanfare::

Baroness,

Perhaps if your posturing and reaping the rewards of your family's hard work are not too tiring, you could be bothered to find a date and time in your no doubt busy schedule into which a challenge can be fitted.

I hope that your skill at arms proves to be more impressive than your social skills.

Boy oh boy, someone's sensitive, I see. The Arena's not a Ladies Social Club. If you're looking for prim and proper social etiquette, you're gonna need to change your hangout venues.

My - how did you put it, skill at arms? - is pretty well documented. Go ahead and read up on it. By the by, I'm not so bad with the skill at unarms, either. Read up on that, too, while you're at it.

Whether I win or lose this challenge won't diminish my prior accomplishments so don't try and pin my whole career and how impressive it might be on one fight. You were racking up wins and an Overlord stint long before I hit the scene (good job on that Overlord challenge shutout by the way...all sarcasm aside that was impressive) and I'm not gonna sit here and pull any 'whatever you did back then doesn't matter' BS so how about you show me the same damn courtesy on the other side of that coin?

P.S. Jay, I ain't got no clue. Probably some fancypants hoity-toity members only something or other.

Well, for us in the back that can't see and needs specs, I dun see a challenge date set. Some of us are very busy people and would love to see this match live so just a little advance notice would be great, ya know?

I'd also like to see the challenge date and hopefully by the end of tonight.
3. A challenge is not considered complete until the results are posted in the Standings. Standings are considered official at 6 pm EST on Sundays. Where not specifically addressed all challenges must be answered within one week of validation (by the date and time the validation notice is sent out) and dueled within two weeks of the response. Any challenge not responded to within one week, setting a time and place, shall be considered a forfeit. (See Title Forfeiture below)
This is on the challenger to post up the time and date. If this is still being discussed then please tell me.

Adding on to the post above. I've spoken with my assistant coordinator and we've decided that since the stated rule is ambiguously written to the point of being confusing to even me, that the challenge may continue even if there is no date and time posted by the end of tonight. All I ask is that the time and date be posted sometime soon.

While we understand that the rule is touched on more in other parts of the official Duel of Swords rules, it isn't where it matters -- in the portion under the challenge process. We apologize for this confusion and will be reviewing and re-wording the rule within the next few days.

Returning duelist and 52nd Overlord Arithon Falessan has challenged Baroness of Old Market Myria Graziano for her title, and they'll be facing off tonight, April 2nd, at 9:00 Eastern! After a volley of sharp words on the corkboard, come see these two experienced fighters match blades instead in the Arena and decide who gets to hold Old Market.

Mallory Maeda will be calling the challenge, and will be moving her usual Tuesday night shift at the Golden Perch to the Arena bar, slinging drinks before and after the fight, from 8:00 to 10:00 Eastern. There are specials on pitchers of Red Orc Brewery's Badsider ale, lordly white grape martinis, and Wrecking Crew favorite Silver Mark: Blue™ until the end of the night!

The Challenge for Old Market was determined by a single match. Challenger Arithon Falessan defeated Baroness Myria Graziano in a high-scoring match that stayed in SUDDEN DEATH for three rounds -- 7-6 in 13. Well reigned, Myria, and well won, Arithon!

[ Arithon fought beneath a banner of blue with a white sun rising, the symbol of House Rising. His second is Evan Rush Rynth, and his lady of honor is Taneth.

Myria has named no second or person of honor, but she fights under the blue and gray banner of the Wrecking Crew.

Well fought and won, Arithon! I knew you could do it.

Well fought and reigned, Myria. I guess.
