A Very MEri Wedding!

Post by Mallory »

Mallory St. Martin and Eri Maeda will be wed at the Hakodate Snow Palace at Winter Wonderland, located in the Old Temple District of RhyDin. The wedding will be on Saturday the 15th of December at 7:15 PM, with a public reception to follow.

The Invitation

The snow palace is a skating rink with a frozen moat surrounding and running underneath the castle, with the castle itself accessible by a bridge over the ice. For the ceremony, the ice inside the castle's lower level has been covered by red carpet, with silver garlands and red bows and strands of lights dangling from above, and white chairs set up on the carpet. There will be an honor guard of delinquents in white silk jackets and Santa hats on the castle's upper level, where the bar and skate rental counter are located, overlooking the lower level and providing security.

Friar Bartholomew Smith will be officiating, while his partner, Friar Thaddeus Smith, will serve as an usher (the only teachers from St. Martin’s who Mallory liked). Guests will enter by ramps at the end of the bridge. Eri will be escorted down the aisle by her father, Roka Maeda, while Mallory will be escorted by her brother, Patrick Richie.

Mallory's Dress
Image

Mallory will be wearing a sweetheart wedding dress (altered by Bailey Raptis), with a crown of holly resting on the base of her horns; her only jewelry will be her engagement ring.

Eri’s Dress
Image

Eri will be wearing her lace wedding dress with white delinquent jacket, her engagement ring, a bracelet gifted to her by Mallory, and a silver shrimp ornament in her hair.

The public reception will begin at eight o’clock, with an open bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres, a DJ table, and the skating rental counter converted to a gift area, where guests can leave gifts, as well as taking a gift bag for themselves. Each gift bag contains a red and silver ornament and chocolate and peppermint candies.

The chairs will be cleared from the red carpet for the reception, open for guests to dance until the end of the night.

Eri and Mallory Maeda will leave the reception at the end of the evening in Eri’s red 1989 Alfa Romeo 75.

The elder Maeda sister must have had some luck on her side, as she caught the thrown bouquet!

When the tengu saw Saori's catch... let's just say she needed to go outside for an extended smoke break.

Though she spent little time in Rhy'Din these days, an invitation to the wedding celebration of the person who might be solely responsible for keeping her cause alive would never go ignored or unanswered. In keeping with the traditions that came easiest to her, the young woman called Tsuru wore red, and though she purposefully chose a more modern dress for the occasion, she nonetheless was careful to keep her shoulders covered.

She mostly kept to herself, participating when it was appropriate and otherwise maintaining her silence unless there was cause for polite conversation. A bright moment of happiness in an otherwise heavy heart, she left with a smile on her face as she slid the Goshugi-bukuro with her name on it onto the gift table as she departed.

The time-hopping young woman was not going to miss this event for the world. She came to celebrate the marriage and love of her friends, to drink, dance, party, and make MEri (by hooking up with at least one of the catering workers).

She bought the happy couple a vintage slow cooker with a card that warned them that she had tinkered with it.

Perhaps a surprise to a great many as he had not been seen in RhyDin since the events of last Valentine’s Day, Ishmerai Ta-Neer arrived at the wedding as an emissary from his new lady, Lorelei Ta-Neer. He looked rather different, a blight from some misfortune having spread from his left hand up his arm before creeping up his neck through the veins and leaving his left eye discolored.

The knight did not mingle, did not greet his former lady, and only spoke very briefly to Sapphire when she accosted him with a tight hug and refused to let go. He did insist on hand-delivering his lady’s gift to one of the brides, Mallory St. Martin, before leaving.

The Empress was very much present and looking fabulous for the wedding of her favorite little witchy. She came not only to have a good time but to make sure absolutely nothing went wrong to disrupt the special occasion (not that security was lacking at all at this affair).

She offered each lady a kiss on the cheek, warm with magic -- a blessing for a life of happiness together. There was also a set of matching goblets made from true silver; a case of faerie wine to pour into them; and a book that the Council for Preternatural Activities probably wanted to lock up in a vault forever that Jewell had just “picked up somewhere” because she thought Mallory would enjoy some light reading.

She barely reacted to seeing Ishmerai present at the wedding and seemed happy to drink, schmooze, and stay on the dancefloor until the end.

Mist was absolutely thrilled to attend the wedding. He arrived alone, his smile lighting up often. Watching the ceremony with wide golden eyes and that heart-struck smile, tears in his eyes. This was the most wonderful thing, and his heart warmed to see the joyous love around him.

Image

He left his gift, that is, he left a flowery card with a photograph of the gift, along with the name of the delivery truck who were set to bring it along to the couples new home...

Image

He wrote that he could have the color changed to whatever they liked, and that he hoped they enjoyed comfortably lounging on it. He thinks it's a TV sofa.

As always, Mist would have a lovely time chatting and meeting people, and would be honored to give Mallory and Eri both a hug (and a playful tug on a lock of Eri's hair). He would be happy to cause a flutter of flower petals over the happy couple while they danced.

And he, himself, would cheerfully dance with anyone who accepted his offers.

The Von Tombs arrived in style, of course, alighting from a Rolls Royce Phantom, yellow, with ghost flames painted down the hood. Jack was sleek as ever in a black suit trimmed in green, while Pharlen had raided a dress shop from the early 1900s.

Image

The couple watched the ceremony with nostalgic smiles and murmurs to one another now and again. Those too close to avoid hearing would learn likely much more than they wanted.

"Remember that ball at the En Karakas embassy? I had you in my site for over an hour, and I could not pull the trigger," he purred, "You were too gorgeous, Doll."

"I remember pulling you out of the mud and blood after Daisy slammed you into the ground. I knew you had a hit on me, but you were so handsome," she crooned in response.

Ah, love!

Their gift was a glorious bit of kitchenware: the Instant Pot. It came with all the accessories and a few cookbooks.

Image

With it was a stack of crocheted afghans in cotton, wool, and silk, in bright and vibrant colors, all tucked into gift bags.

Pharlen would make her way to the blushing brides to give each a hug, a kiss to their cheeks, before returning to her husband to spend much of the evening dancing.

But wait... there's more!

Once the DJ has finished spinning tunes for the happy couple and their guests, local band A Clockwork Warlock takes the stage to belt out an eclectic list of Eri and Mallory's favorites as the dance floor is saturated with mist and subdued mood lighting. The extended set is concluded when the band's lead guitarist and sometime vocalist, Adam Tock, unplugs and takes a seat at the front of the stage to serenade the newlyweds with an acoustic version of Breaking Benjamin's 'Forever'.

And then here came Jackie chauffeuring along Desdenova and Nile in her beastly brute of a Pontiac Phoenix.

Jackie was her gleeful gothful self in rrrrred....

Image

While Miss Nile was utterly charming in a rosey gown, with a few more red blooms in her blue hair...

Image

Desdenova wore a dark suit, old fashioned morning coat and all, with a red rose boutonniere.

They cheerfully lugged in their gifts:

A hand made bookcase, and currently on the shelves, three potted roses.

A Damascus
Image
A Cabbage
and

Blue.

Expect some squirming and blushing from the juniors, while Jackie just beams serene wickedness as she watches the young teens.

And she'll make sure they dance, too!

About 7:30 that night...

Friar Bartholomew smiled merrily between the two women standing before their friends and family, under a curtain of festive garlands and holiday lights that adorned the center of the snow palace. He opened his hands, studiously avoiding eye contact with Friar Thaddeus (sniffling noisily by the entrance) as he spoke: "Mallory and Eri, I invite you to express your vows of marriage to one another. Please face each other as you declare your vows in the presence of your family and friends who have come here to celebrate your love."

He watched them kindly as they turned to each other, and gestured to the witch first: "Mallory, you may start."

Mallory let out a single unbidden laugh as she tried to stop herself from crying, and bowed her horned head so she could be closer to the delinquent. "Eri Maeda, spirit of calamity, you know who I am. I am the one who loves you, and the one who will share your name; I am the one who marries you today -- you, the most beautiful creature I will ever know. And wherever we are together, that is my home." Mallory clasped Eri's hand as she held up her wedding band, then slid it onto her finger and said, "This is our home."

The friar bowed his head to Mallory, then said, "Eri," inviting her to continue with a gesture.

Eri held Mallory's wedding band in the palm of her hand as she faced the witch to speak her vow. "Mallory, you once wrote me two letters that I found. I saved both of them because they were important moments in our life together. Once I said 'let's not be apart again,' and I promise now that we won't be." She slid the ring carefully onto Mallory's finger.

With the vows spoken and the rings exchanged, the friar spoke again: "Eri, do you take Mallory to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you promise to love and support her, so long as you both shall live?"

"I do!" Eri declared enthusiastically, squeezing Mallory's hands.

"Mallory, do you take Eri to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you promise to love and support her, so long as you both shall live?"

"I do," said Mallory, managing not to sniffle this time as she grinned at Eri.

"Eri and Mallory, you may now kiss." The friar's face crinkled around his eyes in a kind smile as he watched Mallory and Eri lean forward and share a slow, tender kiss. Then he clapped his hands, unable to restrain himself, and declared: "Friends, it is with great honor that I present to you... Eri and Mallory Maeda!"

Juniper and Nicklaus had made it just in time and sat at the back watching the happy couple, smiling and cheering once the two were presented.
