The Great Gobble Tournament (Panther's Claw & MoonBeryl Double Event)

The Great Gobble has risen from the Underground (it was awoken by the rave held by the faeries it seems), ventured above ground for the first time in years, and swallowed both the Panther’s Claw and the MoonBeryl Opal! Old Man Matt Simon has demanded their return, but the ol’ Great Gobble swears he’ll only give the tokens up to those who prove themselves worthy.

Beginning Wednesday, November 7th! Stay tuned for more details.

The Teams
To enter this tournament, all you have to do is participate (by dueling or posting) and you will be sorted into one of two teams: The Underdogs and the Heavy Hitters.

The Underdogs is for anyone who duels in DoF during the tournament ranked below a Sapphire. The top duelist in the Underdogs category will be awarded the Panther’s Claw at the end of the tournament!
(If you start the tournament below Sapphire rank but rank up to Emerald during the tournament, your points still go to the Underdogs but you will be eligible to win MoonBeryl if you have the most points regardless of which team it goes to)

The Heavy Hitters is for anyone who duels in DoF during the tournament ranked as an Emerald. The top duelist in the Heavy Hitters category will be awarded the MoonBeryl Opal at the end of the tournament!

Unless… dun dun dun… the Underdogs gain more points overall as a team than the Heavy Hitters. If that happens, the top duelist in the Underdogs will be awarded the MoonBeryl Opal instead--gasp! And the second placed Underdog will earn the Panther’s Claw for the end of the tournament.

What happens if the Heavy Hitters get more points? Nothing (aside from getting MoonBeryl) because they should win since it’s a bunch of Emeralds. Don’t be greedy.

PLOT TWIST: Title Holders (all the Opals and the Diamond) get to choose which side they’ll support (post below)!

Earning Points for Your Team
Since points are important, here’s how to earn them(note--only your first THREE duels per night count):

*1 point for every DoF duel (max 3 points per night)
*1 point for winning a DoF duel (max 3 points per night)
*3 points for doing volunteer work
*3 points for dueling in DoF three times in a single night
*3 points for dueling in DoF three days during the event

There will likely be additional ways to earn points as the tournament progresses.

Points are cumulative. For example, if Jewell fights Kheld in DoF, they both get 1 point for the fight and when Jewell wins, she gets an additional point. Jewell then goes on to beat Matt (2 more points) and loses to Eden Parker (1 point) giving her a total of eight points (the last 3 points coming from fighting in DoF three times in a night).

Points will be tracked in this thread over here! Ties will be broken using win percentage. Further ties: fight to the death… or you know 5 points, whatever comes first.

Give Thanks
Since our main objective here as DoF staff members is to get our fancy trinkets back from the Great Gobble, we don’t have time to count losses on your record for the next week! So get out there and duel your heart out, earn those points, and don’t worry if you lose--just get up, dust off your shit kickers, and hit harder next time!

Show Community Spirit
Even when you’re done earning your points for the night, stick around and get in a few more fist fights (or duel in other sports)! There are prizes to be won for those who go above and beyond in dueling during the Great Gobble Tournament. Each additional duel (regardless of sport) beyond the first three of the night gives you Empress Points. You can redeem your Empress Points for the prize of your choice.

RULES TL/DR VERSION:

*Get out and duel in DoF starting this Wednesday, November 7th
*It's a no-loss tournament
*The first three DoF duels of the night get you points
*Points can win you the Panther's Claw or the MoonBeryl Opal
*Extra duels after the first three give you points to buy fun stuff
*It'll be fun

Date: Wednesday, November 7th

For the first night of the Great Gobble Tournament, the Outback will be hosting a Turkey Burger Bar!

There are turkey burger sliders with all the normal burger fixins in addition to some special "turkey dinner" themed sides and deserts:

*cranberry compote
*stuffing
*sweet potato fries
*pumpkin pie

For those who aren't interested in dueling, there's also a fun game set up tonight! It's a "turkey shooting" gallery made out of balloons with foam-bullet guns to shoot them with. There are five "turkeys" total with points ranging from 1-5, so challenge your friends to see how many you can hit!

((For the turkey shooting game, you can use a dice roller to see if your character "hits" the turkeys with a 6 being no hit and the others being worth the number you roll (1-5).))

A jumbo chocolate turkey (with candy corn on its tail!) was delivered promptly to Ms. Penny Escobar. It was made to order, gluten free, and kosher!

THE GREAT GOBBLE TOURNAMENT IS OVER!

The Great Gobble is incredibly pleased with the turnout for this tournament (as are the DoF staff!). A turkey of his word, he handed over the Panther's Claw and the MoonBeryl Opal to The Empress this morning to give out to the winners of the tournament.

While the Heavy Hitters put in an impressive amount of points (195) for only nine duelists, the Underdogs came out in force with fourteen fighters earning Tournament Points for a staggering total of 240 points!

With 45 more points than the Heavy Hitters, the Underdogs win Panther's Claw and the MoonBeryl Opal!

MoonBeryl Opal

The winner of the MoonBeryl Opal is Penny Escobar! Penny earned a total of 44 points for her team and came out to duel almost every single night of the tournament. Enjoy the talking rock Penny and congratulations!

Panther's Claw
Things get a little complicated here. The Panther's Claw should go to the next Underdog, which was Canaan earning a total of 43 points. However, Canaan also ranked up to Emerald during the tournament--congratulations! But now he's no longer eligible for the Panther's Claw. Waaah waaah.

Up next is Mallory, who ranked up to Warlord during the tournament and earned 35 points! However, the Blood Witch looked at the Claw earlier today and wants to pass on being its holder. I think she's got her sights set on other titles.

That means that the holder of Panther's Claw for this cycle is Juniper! Juniper was brand new to Duel of Fists at the start of this tournament but still earned a total of 33 points.

Congratulations Juniper!

Notable Mentions & Other Prizes
The Great Gobble was so impressed and pleased by this tournament that he has gifted all the participants with Turkey Spam made from his enemies.

For Myria Graziano, who he felt deserved a special mention for earning so many points for the Heavy Hitters but still missing out on the opal, he sent a hat he knit himself.

The Great Gobble and the DoF staff send their thanks to everyone who participated and want to remind everyone to cash in their Empress Points!
