To challenge a buffoon (FireStar Challenge)
The yellowed scrip of paper on the Outback says that I may issue challenge as of the 18th night of this month. So it is the 19th day of the first month of Akhet, the Flood of the River....or as it is known in this damp cesspool, January, the month of the ice. Either way, I challenge for what has been on sojourn from me for far too long.
I would like to say that I challenge for the spirit of competition and a desire for the Opal. But truth be told....the holder annoys me. His emaciated carcass festers at ringside while he employs hulking abominations in the eyes of the gods to fight for him. If I am not allowed to halt this with my decidedly superior necromancy whilst he competes in these rings, then I will at least divest him of the burden of disgracing a title.

Mr. Karos,
I find myself uninterested in either your annoyance or your challenge.
My interest lies in the physiology of the diverse contestants of these rings and the magic of the opals. I will admit there are some of the ancients I admire and have spent a deal of time studying. Were you Alhazred, I would be joyous at the opportunity to learn.
Unfortunately, you are not.
I have had sufficient time to make a full examination of the red rock and, while you would likely present an interesting racial study to most, you afford nothing new to me. Many great works from the sorcerers of the Nile have found there way to my hands in the past. With some few exceptions, it is no longer a field of inquiry I find worthy of pursuit.
With that in mind, and not being one to have a care for your likely righteous indignation, I see no reason to proceed further along this course.
I decline your challenge.

The Anvil stared at the door to his office as it closed behind the minion who'd just left. Then he looked down at the red Opal that had been left on his desk. There were no words uttered... the thing probably lacked a tongue. Tongues weren't much good when fighting, unless you were The Anvil. Frowning at FireStar, this was obviously the Opal's fault he opened his mouth and bellowed.
"MAAAAATTTT!" Could the week get any worse?
He scrawled a note and pinned it to the bulletin board.
Shale has retired from Opal Status. This Challenge has been officially declined

Candy looked over the board and snorted. Finding a bit of paper she scrawled
Matt -
Nice of you to keep the rock warm for me. Now that I'm around, maybe you get around to doing the thing you hinted at or some other thing or you could just hand it over to me and save Nubes the trouble of falling over himself.
