AIM Replacement

Post by JewellRavenlock »

So Lifestream is going away. If AIM follows (which it kind of seems like it might) what next?

Source? The only thing I've found written is about Lifestream being shut down and an opinion piece with some disgruntled AIM user whining about ads.

Changed it to be more accurate since I have not seen anything for sure just saw a rumor a while back.

Skype's a decent replacement for the most part. It already has a pretty established RP group usage on it too. Otherwise I'm hearing things about discord but don't know much about it.

Discord = Easier and better than skype. Better channels and chat too.

There's always trillian and yahoo if things do go south for AIM.

I like Discord a lot. It's super easy to use as well.

if anyone does want to join an ROH discord channel. I've made a bunch of voice lobbys and a pin lobby for important articles, rp events, what have you, I'll add more if required.

I'm going to go easy on the rules since we're adults and all. I think a simple rule of: Don't do creepy stuff seems sufficient enough.

Edit: Added a Coordinator and Caller ranking on the server with different extra permissions to allow better communication.

I've been using trillian for years, and I'm a pretty big fan of it. Ad-free in the downloaded program, decent browser access, nice mobile interface with minimal ads, chat logs for those who use IM for RP. It's treated me very well.
