Baron Tournament to select the 108th Overlord

The 108th Overlord of the Duel of Swords shall be the winner of a tournament of the Barons, to be held this Thursday night beginning at 9pm. Six of the barons have signed up, with only the Baron of Old Market abstaining. Lacey Tamarez has graciously stepped forward to call the event.

The format of the tournament shall be as follows:

• One round of elimination, randomly seeding the barons against each other to cut the field in half.
• The three remaining shall fight in round robin fashion with the baron to emerge 2-0 claiming the title.
• Should there be no winner after the first round robin, then a second shall be fought with all duels happening at the same time. ((and with a 5 minute move submission window instituted)). Continuing on until there is a winner.

Lacey and I have drawn random lots and determined the following seedings for the barons:

1. Hope
2. Sabine
3. Vael
4. Aric
5. Six
6. Jewell

Should one of the barons not make it out to the tournament and we have but 5 participants, the most senior baron in attendance shall proceed directly to the round robin phase.

Should only four of the barons appear, then the round robin phase shall be scrapped and the tournament fought as a simple two round, single elimination event.

Should the Baroness of Old Market change her mind and decide to enter, thereby giving us a full field of 7 barons, the format shall be converted to a standard single elimination with the Baroness of Seaside receiving a first round bye.

Kalamere and person who posed the question -- we both know who I'm talking about,

I reaffirm the intent to not participate in the Barons Tournament for Overlord. As Juliet once said while she still had her wits, "It is an honor that I dream not of."

Beyond that, I have other duties I must attend to that prevent me from arriving at the designated hour.

I will, however, be there as soon as I can to cheer on the other barons!
