A Seaside Thanksgiving

Post by Bile »

In light of the necessary dark times that are hanging over Seaside, Bile has taken some time to spruce up the manor for the holiday. A letter went out to all members of Chemical Burn and all of the Barons as well as the Overlord and Coordinators.

I, Baron von Bile, cordially invite you to partake in Thanksgiving at Seaside with myself, Callous and Nox. We will be hosting a fine feast for those that wish to come and should the hours grow late any are more than welcome to spend the night, as the manor is very well equipped. I will be preparing for the feast throughout the day so if you would like to join and aid in the preparations you may feel free to do so. If you have other matters to attend to I will not take any rejection to heart, but we will commence with the feast around 5pm EST. I hope to see some of you about.

The feast will include some of the following prepared delicacies:

Nayun makes an appearance early on. The Overlord would do as expected of a woman in her position; make small talk, feign as if she were listening to others, and nod her head every now and then. Bits and pieces of information that she deemed as worthy while would be kept, but anything considered useless would enter one ear and leave the other soon enough. Much of Nayun's dialog would be `I see.` and `Is that so?` and she never seemed to start any conversation herself.

The Overlord did not leave the dining area, even though talk of the dungeon below being off limits met her ears. Still, it was not her place to question the wishes of the Baron, so she did as instructed and thought none of it.

Her stomach saved for her own hosted dinner at the Overlord manor, which left Nayun little options when it came to the feast here. A grape or two, along with a sliver of turkey meat, had been her meal of choice. After all - it's only proper to eat something of what is offered under another's roof. And like any true life of the party -- Nayun declined any offer of alcohol and simply drunk cold water.

Two hours would pass before she excuses herself and departs both the manor and the district of Seaside.

Baron von Bile would be gifted ice orchids from Adenna. They only bloom in the cold, so they would be a perfect winter time plant.

It should be noted that she was quick to correct anyone who thought to call her `Overlady`, and that she request one of the glass-jar-bird decorations be given to her.

Sister Ira was accompanied to the Seaside Manor by a handful of hooded figures, who made themselves scarce with other business once on the Manor grounds (but remained well behaved, and did as instructed).

Though she was often seen to be about the periphery of the party, brooding with a glass of wine in hand, she did make sure to introduce herself to any of the Barons in attendance, and the Overlord, of course.

When it came time to feast, one would be hard-pressed to catch her for a moment without meat on her plate. None of the questionable
dishes seemed to daunt her appetite.

She remained in attendance for the full event, and departed with her hooded servants after, each one carrying large bundles of what must have been leftovers.

Dragging her Assistant Coordinator along for this politicking she had decided to do, and accompanied by the IFL Commisioner, Rayvinn embraced the chaos and arrived at the Seaside Manor bearing a gift for the host in the form of a rare spellbook. Wearing a special ring that she had acquired on one of her many adventures; spelled to detect poison, Rayvinn felt confident that she and her companions could drink a glass of wine or other beverage in relative safety. Having already eaten, she'd opted not to eat more than a plum (after a great deal of washing) before politely thanking Lord von Bile for inviting her and then taking her leave.

It was a party, and one his Captain had invited him to. So Xanth punctually showed up at the
Seaside Manor. Xanth never wore anything other than his black robes, gloves, and boots, and
he saw no need to change for the festivities. Like Nayun, he simply nodded, and spoke little.
He ate nothing, and any offers of food were met with a stern "I have no need of food".

He had brought a magical book to give Bile, but seeing Rayvinn beat him to the punch, he merely
grunted and hid the book back beneath his robes.

"I was unaware that a gift was required", he lied smoothly, when asked afterwards if he had brought
anything for the Baron.

Xanth was not the social type, if it wasn't already obvious, and as the evening wore on, he became
more uncomfortable and agitated. Soon, he began to say things to the party goers like "I have no
interest in that"
, "Not now, I'm busy", then finally a "Get the hell away from me!" as he pushed his
way to the door and the relief giving freedom of the RhyDin city night.

It had no understanding of why a dinner was being held. It also had no understanding to why it had been summoned, shackled to the point of being constricted no matter what movements it would take.

If any took the liberty of stepping too close, it didn't waste time in trying to defend its space with a lunge. Its keeper was very quick to yank at the main leash and drag the multi-horned element of brimstone and black ooze back to his side.

Nox was not interested in any of the prepared dishes, either. None seemed to pique its interest.

It was unsocial, intolerable, and bored as any kept animal might be when unable to do anything other than glare, hungrily, at those that attended.

Unlike Nayun, who showed up early, or Xanth, who was grumpy, Xzavier showed up late and of high spirits. Both figuratively and literally. He had bottles of rum to pass around and the spirits of a dozen drunken Native Americans with him. When pressed for where he could them, he simply laughed and said something about an unfortunate 7-11 and some Indian burial grounds.

He stayed until he was thrown out, and then led anyone who would follow on a night of karaoke and line dancing.

The Drow arrived not long after Xzavier, having caught wind of the invitation (or having staked his neophyte to the place, more likely), curious about this strange tradition of a community meal.

He spent his time sporadically sampling the foods, the appearance of which sparked his fancy, and otherwise remaining with his back to some wall or other, the subtle glow of his red gaze persistent as it wandered over the motley, rather sinister gathering.

He offered only polite nods and the briefest of spoken greetings, otherwise taciturn until his departure.

He had never before witnessed karaoke, or line dancing; trailing his skeletal student this day had proven an interesting choice.
