The Warlock's Lab

Post by Shale »

Shale's Journal * 9 October

The Opal is mine. IceDancer they have named it; the blue rock. The match went well, with the creature I'd brought forth lasting longer than I had anticipate. It lacked the strength to go the long haul, but it seemed that against Ms. Anderson I needed more speed than brute force. It took a few harsh hits and wouldn't have made it to a third bout, but overall I can't complain. I've made note of the graveyard it came from and date of death to see if I might have similar results in the future. As to the fire opal,

------

"I am NOT a fire opal."

"Of course you are."

"Ice. I hate fire."

"Exactly. Fire opal"

"What? I don't think you're listening."

"Look. You are an object that could be used offensively against fire. Like a shrimp fork is used to stab and consume miniature crustaceans. You don't call it a 'steel fork' or the 'fork of pricking'. It's a shrimp fork and you are the fire opal."

"You're a loon. What's the deal with the fire whiskey and cup of - what is that? Blood?"

"Fire dragon blood to be precise."

"Of course it is. And the delivery guy you dazed that's standing next to the table? I think he's about to drool on me."

"Oh, him? He's just here to perform the experiments. I didn't want to risk getting the blood on my hands."

"Experiments? Hey! Put down the opal!"

experiments will begin immediately. I have retained... well, borrowed... a lab assistant for the night.

We shall begin with the chilling effects on fire whiskey, which my assistant shall then consume, and then introduce fire infused drake blood. I may have my assistant consume that as well, though the experiments on fae delivery people weren't scheduled to happen until next quarter sometime. To be determined later in the night then, based on time.

I expect an easy night, provided nothing kills the assistant. I imagne that's possible with the drake blood. Note that next time I should procure two assistants.

If all goes well tonight we shall look into finding a hell hound for the next stage.
