Challenge for New Haven

Post by Saul Heyman »

Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Saul Heyman. And I am the one, behind the one, behind what you may remember as None of the Above. You see, I am the Advocate for my client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador and have written speeches for him that he has previously expressed to your community. They are his words, and they are written in the way he feels best gets his points across. Now, I have been given free rein to speak for him. That is what an advocate does. He speaks for his client.

Now that you all either remember me or have now been officially introduced to me, it is for me to inform you that I have been given full authorization from my client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador, to speak for him in matters pertaining to his illustrious, record breaking, dominant, elite career.

My client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador, does not really expect there to be very many to just sit and accept that he is the best in the Arena. No, my client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador, believes that there will be those who think that it's just a matter of ego. The problem with that, is that there are plenty of statistics that back up my clients claims. No, I don't have to look them up, I know what they are. Do your own research. Be that as it may, my client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador, has decided in order to continue to be taken seriously, that there must be a title involved.

It should be noted that my client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador, is one title short of being the only duelist who has graced the halls to have held every Barony available. Oh, sure, he has not yet held the title of Overlord, but that's only due to the fact that my client has never had a desire to hold that prestigious position. If he did, I assure you that there would be no stopping him from attaining that which he desired, should he desire it. Consider this. He has held the Old Temple Barony twice, once when it was just the first ring. He has held the Dockside Barony twice. He has held the fourth ring twice, the ninth ring twice. He has held the fifth ring. He has held Old Market. he has held Seaside, Dragon's Gate, Battlefield Park... He has held the Barony rank thirteen times. Thirteen. And yet.. something is missing. Old Temple, Dockside, Old Market, Dragon's Gate, Seaside, Battlefield Park...

Something missing. Which brings us to the crux of this message. There remains a single title that my client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador, indeed does desire. He is also amused at how long this title has gone unchallenged, when you consider the record and experience of the duelist who holds the title, Jackson Gray. I mean, what is it? Are all other warlords afraid to challenge this young man? Is he so intimidating a fighter? I mean, sure, he has a supremely intimidating Arena record. I took the opportunity to look it up, and I can see why every other warlord in this arena is shaking in their boots to challenge the young man. After all, a 1-3-0 career record is a very, very good reason to be afraid. And, if you include the free challenge that was given to the young duelist, you could even beef his record up to an astoundingly impressed 3-4-0. Of course, one would be remiss if they didn't admit that those last two duels, those last two wins, were the most important wins in the young mans career. After all, those two wins were the ones that gained him the right to reside in the Baronial manor in New Haven and be called "Baron".

Still. Despite having every reason to be scared and intimidated by by so dominant an athlete, the fact that the Baron of New Haven, Jackson Gray, my client is NOT afraid of him. My client is NOT intimidated by him. My client is certainly NOT shaking in his boots at the thought of facing him. The fact is, ladies and gentlemen, that Jackson Gray, the Baron of New Haven, is currently holding a title that my client desires. And my client is coming for it. Because it is time. Because it is needed. Because he wants it. Because it will be the culmination of that which no other duelist in the Arena has ever done. Because it will add to my clients legacy.

Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Saul Heyman, and I am the advocate for the next reigning, defending, undisputed Baron of New Haven, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador. And this is his challenge.

Uhhh that had a lot of words....so, I think this is a challenge against the giver of cupcakes and booze?

This challenge is valid and may proceed...so long as G doesn't try to get that dude to fight for him or something. I mean he seems awfully impassioned about this challenge.

Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Saul Heyman, and I represent my client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador. I am authorized to speak on matters pertaining to my client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador, and his career in the Arena in this sport of swords.

Oh, don't worry, this will be a short and sweet announcement. I only wax philosophical and become verbose when there is an absolute need to, and judging by the current state of attention I have, there's absolutely no need.

As the advocate for my client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador, he as given me the honor of reading to you his statement in regards to the upcoming challenge match against the pretender, Jackson Gray, who currently resides in the Barony of New Haven.

My Client, G'nort Dragoon Talanador says, and I quote:
G wrote:To whom it may concern.

The challenge match between Jackson and myself will be taking place this Thursday, Sept. 3rd, at 9:30 Rhydin time. The great Rena has agreed to officiate.

Hope to see you all there! And now, I turn it over to my advocate, Saul Heyman.
So, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. This Thursday at 9:30, my client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador, will be facing off against the pretender Baron, Jackson Grey with the, well, I don't know about great but I will call her respectable, Rena calling the match.

And if you want to watch a good fight in which my client, G'nort Dragoon-Talanador, makes history, then you'll definitely want to be there.

G, I don't like your spokesperson but that's here nor now.

Anyway, tonight saw G'nort Dragoon-Talanador going for the last barony he hasn't held. A small crowd showed up to witness the challenge between him and Jackson Gray.

The Baron dueled under no colors and had no person of honor. His second was the guy who gave him the grant that allowed him to become the baron, Rand alTan.

The challenger dueled under the banner of the Company of the Dragon which is blue and silver. His lady of honor was the lovely Mercedes Velasquez(who showed up fashionably late). His second was the cupcake queen, Gabriella Alexandros-who seems to be MIA.

The Baron picked a single duel.

Code: Select all

NewHaven 1 Really, G? Isn't it a bit early for that? (th/di) .5-0 G
NewHaven 2 Nothing here as hammer and staff meet low (lc x2)
NewHaven 3 Another nothing round as Jax drops and G dances away (fdk/fss)
NewHaven 4 Jax dances away then finds the hammer in his way (fss/lc) 1.5-0 G
NewHaven 5 G swing high with the hammer...Jax swings low with the staff. Both score (lc/hc) 2.5-1 G
NewHaven 6 Jax swings high...and finds a hammer blocking his way (hc/flp) 3.5-1 G
NewHaven 7 Jax is ready to block but spies G stepping away (fcp/fss) 4.5-1 G
NewHaven 8 Jax steps aside but finds his way blocked...hopefully his face didn't take a hit (fss/hc)
G defeats Jackson Gray 5.5-1
G claims the last ring he was missing. He also aligns himself Renegade to the Overlord.

Nice win, G and well tried, Jackson.
