I never felt that I had anything to worry about, darling. Don't fret. Your chauvinistic ways were the source of irritation, not jealousy. The girl obviously felt bad for being rejected and needed to try to shift focus elsewhere. Can you not reject people in a more polite way? Try it.

Lilly has my vote even more if you are scared she will hurt you when you least expect it. Keeping you afraid and on your toes has become quite an exhausting job for me, I could use the help. Perhaps even if you don't accept her as your squire I could enlist her assistance in this matter.

Or, sweetheart, you could just simply not call them names? That would be polite as you reject them. If you tell them you'll call, I am certain they will be waiting by their phones and then will be so very disappointed when you don't call. Or, and this would be worse, what if you did?
