Chapter Two

[Onyx]

The breeze coming through her windows was gentle, as was her breathing as she slept alone in her bed. All of a sudden her body shudders and convulses. She gasps for air, her head is being torn asunder. Chills rake her spine with savage claws, she scrambles out of bed, ending up in a heap on the hard floor. Dragging her legs behind her she barely makes it to the toilet. Any food that was in her stomach evacuates along with bile until there is no more but dry heaves left. She collapses on the bathroom floor, twitching.

Mrs. Brown closes the file upon her desk, swiveling 180 degrees to tuck away the paperwork in a mahogany cabinet. She begins to compose a memo to the board that her assignment was completed, and she foresees no additional complications. Mrs. Brown smiles, satisfied in a job well done.
