The Swap Meet
Teams with inactive duelists may post here who they are trading in and out. If a duelist can not commit to the tournament for whatever reason, their team captain may announce the roster change below. Teams are not limited to their roster changes due to unforeseen events and obligations.

Team Captains may elect to change their roster at any time, dropping one duelist and picking up another, provided their roster continues to contain five duelists. Roster changes will become official at the beginning of the next dueling week. eg: If the change is made during week 2, the new duelist will begin scoring points for the team in week 3.

Right. Do you get points for characters who win challenges ...Apple wrote:Am I right to assume that if a player is switched out while they have a challenge pending / scheduled for a later time, any points that could of been gained from the challenge will not go to the team that took them off their list?
- Only if they were on your roster when they issued challenge (or challenge was issued against them)?
- Only if their challenge actually takes place while they are on their roster?

Would seem problematic. To be fair, if a challenge is made the player should already be on the team and have to stay on the team until the challenge is complete. For a person who is challenging to be picked up by a team at the last minute so they can gain points, then gets taken off the next week? Iffy.
Keeping it streamline to where challenges shouldn't be involved. The adding/replacing players should be for the normal dueling. A way to make sure teams don't get put behind if a player needs to be out of town for a week.

Based on my conversation via PMs with Sylus, The Swap Meet can/should be utilized to change rosters as often as a team wants to, adding an extra element to their strategy. Seems to me that the easiest way to handle this would to leave it at requiring a challenger/defender to be on the roster the week they are defending. Otherwise:
Character A challenges Character B in week one.
Character B has to go out of town in week two, so they are not on the roster.
Character B defends in week three, holds their title, but cannot receive points.
It'll be easiest and most universally fair if it's as I suggested above.

I would hope the no-alts on a team rule will apply to this. Using myself as an example. I could challenge for an Opal on this name and on Nayun. Then finish the Opal challenge close to the week limit, bring Nayun into the team and have her do the other Opal challenge. So on and so on if people have many alts.
To get back to my beginning point. Can you only keep one character-alt per team, even after you switch out? Let's say Candy gets switched out, then gets switched back in 2 weeks later. She can't come on some freshly made alt to play for a lower rank tournament / etc?

Certainly are a lot of shady arguments taking place lately with Hydra. Remember to swap out a dueler who can't be around for say week 3, the announcement has to be made early on within week 2 for the appropriate roster changes to take place. Teams will still be restricted to 1:1 character/Player ratio even with swapping.Apple wrote:I would hope the no-alts on a team rule will apply to this. Using myself as an example. Not entirely Rakeesh. The Swap Meet can and should be utilized to change rosters as often as a team may require to accomodate sudden personal events in players lives that would require them to bow out of the tournament for an extended period of time without being a detriment to their team. Not say...oh...have Elijah rotate out all 5 of his high ranked alts for challenges?Rakeesh wrote:Based on my conversation via PMs with Sylus, The Swap Meet can/should be utilized to change rosters as often as a team wants to, adding an extra element to their strategy

Not suggesting that. I would neither ask Elijah to do that, nor would he (it wouldn't even be within the ethos of those characters, probably). One character per player per team, even with roster changes, seems the most fair route to me as well. My question was:

Thanks for clearing this up! That's exactly what I thought the swapping was for, to keep the teams active and not allow for possible alt-hopping for challenge sake.Sylus Kurgen wrote:Certainly are a lot of shady arguments taking place lately with Hydra. The challenge in its entirety has to take place while they are on the team roster. Swapping in someone who has been challenged, but has not defended yet, would not count. Players are only allowed to have 2 characters in the tournament, Free Agents also fall under that.Rakeesh wrote:Not suggesting that. Character A challenges Character B in week one.
Character B has to go out of town in week two, so they are not on the roster.
Character B defends in week three, holds their title, but cannot receive points.
Player A has character on Team LXD and YTM, they have to go out of town for a sudden emergency and swap their characters out.
Player B on Team LXD only has one character in the tournament, and swaps in a second onto YTM, and Player C on YTM does the same for LXD, they now have 2 characters in the tournament. They can't bring in any other characters.
Player A, upon coming back, may request their place back on the Roster, but that is the Captain's decision. However Players B and C have 2 characters entered into the tournament now, and could not bring in any others.

Correct.Rakeesh wrote:Edited: I just wanna make sure I'm getting the best possible clarification on this.
From the time that someone is challenged (or challenges), until the time they play that challenge match, a duelist must have been on the roster non-stop for their team to receive points?
