Hydra Season 2 2013
General Rules
Registration.
Teams are limited to 5 members and those fighters cannot be on more than one squad. Early registration runs Monday June 17th, to June 27th. Tournament start date is Monday July 1st. Registration extensions will not be granted.
Tournament Weeks are Monday to Sunday:
Week 1. July 1st to July 7th
Week 2. July 8th to July 14th (Double Points for Swords)
Week 3. July 15th to July 21st
Week 4. July 22nd to July 28th (Double Points for Magic)
Week 5. July 29th to August 4th.
Week 6. August 5th to August 11th. (Double Points for Fists plus end of tournament, invitational.)
Scoring.
Fighters earn points for their team by dueling on regular dueling nights at least four times a week, entering Sanctioned Tournaments, and challenging or defending titles.
Regular duels are worth 5pts + Point Difference for a win. Lose and get the points scored up to 4 points.
*Weekly points are taken from 4 highest scoring duels of each team member. In the event a competitor does not complete 4 duels, 1 excess duel beyond the initial 4 will be taken from their team mates to fill the difference. The Excess duels will be the lowest scoring matches, up to 1 duel for each member.
All rank advancements, excluding challenge ranks will earn 2 points. This includes losing rank, and gaining it back in the next standings update.
A tournament win is worth 20 points. This means there are not any additional points for attaining ranks that result from a tournament win.
Challenges are worth 15 points. Challenges for Hydra do not count unless announced after the July 1st start date.
a. Teams may gain potential challenge points through intercession, where able to do so. Points go to the duelist and their team who wins the mantle. Successful intercessions, or Championing, is worth 5 points, but only if the challenger or defender wins the title. These points include interceding for Test of Worthiness.
b. Title keepers may be granted additional points, under the terms that they win their next defense. The bonus point after the initial defense defaults to a 2 point bonus for each successful defense beyond the first up to 20 points for a 4th consecutive defense of the same title.
15 points for first defense, 17 for second, 19 for third, 20 for 4th.
Swap Meet.
In the event a duelist must bow out of the tournament for any reason (such as real life emergency) team captains may request a substitution for that person. The substitution announcement should be made on the previous week’s Monday, preferrably.
Ex. Kalamere has a family emergency and will be unable to duel in Week 3. Sylus must announce the swap on Monday or as early as possible in Week 2, if able. The swapped in duelist will not earn points for Kalamere until Week 3. Excess duels will go into effect until then.
Swaps or Free Agents are subject to the overall rules of the tournament (and may not be alternate characters of a player all ready on that team. Players who have 2 characters all ready in the tournament may not swap in a 3rd character.)
Hydra Cup Interim Invitational.
Date, August 4th. Time 8 RST (EST).
The Run Down
This is a 16 seed, single elimination tournament. Seeds will be granted to the top 2 fighters of each team based on performance in regular duels. If a seeded duelist is unable to compete in this tournament, their seed will move to the next duelist on their team. All normal tournament rules still apply. (( limit is one player per character, if a secondary character winds up holding a top 2 seed, their invite moves to the next qualifying character.))
Sport Specifics.
Each duel will integrate all three sports. Every fourth round will switch to a new dueling style until a victor emerges.
Round 1 bouts will start with Duel of Swords. And progress as follows:
e.g. Matt 12 vs Anubis 7. Round 1, Swords. Round 2, Swords. Round 3, Swords. Round 4, duel switches to Magic. Round 5, Magic. Round 6, Magic. Round 7, duel switches to Fists. Round 8, Fists. Round 9, Fists. Round 10 loops back to Swords.

All inquiries about team points, scoring, and weekly results should be sent via PM to Hydra Corporation.

It is better to be hated for what you are, than to be loved for what you are not.
