Seeding has been completely randomized for the twelve duelist invitational tournament. The first three rounds will be a short round-robin format based on the randomized seeding. Duelists will be able to use the same number of fancies that they would during regulation dueling, based on their rank in the Arena.
At the end of each round, Rakeesh will post a list of the current rankings in the tournament based on MPDPD (Match Point Differential Per Duel). Scoring will follow the old TDL tradition during the round robin.
This means that not only will winning during the round robin be a key to success, but winning big and keeping your losses close will make a difference as well.
There will be a total of five rounds in the entire tournament, with no byes. Should one of the twelve invited duelists be unable to attend the tournament, Rakeesh will open the tournament up to any spectator duelists who are attending the event, so long as they are of the rank Commoner, Swordsman, Master at Arms or Grandmaster. The tournament will host no fewer or greater than twelve duelists.
The overall winner of the single elimination rounds of the tournament may either accept the Overlord's Grant for this season, or nominate another recipient of their choosing.

Matches are scored as follows:
Each duel won: 5 points to duelist.
Each point scored within a duel: 1 point to duelist, to a maximum of 5 points.
Bonus points to duelists are awarded as follows:
- Shutout: 3 points to duelist.
- Five-round shutout: 5 points to duelist.
- Overtime duel*: 2 points to losing duelist, with a maximum of 6 points as their final score.
* - overtime duel: A duel which either
(a) lasts over fifteen rounds, or
(b) results in the loser scoring 5+ points.
At the end of the first three rounds of the tournament, the four duelists with the highest MPDPD will be seeded based on their MPDPD and go on to the single elimination semi-final.Match Point Differential Per Duel is calculated by the following formula:
Total Match Points Scored (points the dueler scored) - Total Match Points Allowed (points scored against the dueler) / Number of Duels.
This means that not only will winning during the round robin be a key to success, but winning big and keeping your losses close will make a difference as well.
