What he can and can't do in relation to the laws is really of no consequence in regards to this issue. Nearly everything that occurred as a result of Prop 37 occured long before it even reached a vote. Simply talking about it was enough to cause arguably one of the worst cases of civil unrest the city has seen.G wrote:Everyone breathe a moment. Derpy Hooves has no authority whatsoever to enact any laws. The Sweetly proportioned governor has said she won't get behind it or even consider passing it. No one, and I do mean No One, is giving any support to it.
This is the same thing. It's on a smaller scale and with much less support than Prop 37 had--because most of us learned our lesson from that sorry debacle--but the same risks apply because you risk stirring up the feelings of those who held onto their paranoia or their intolerance even after Prop 37. So as much as it's a miniature, super-lopsided (in magic users' favor) version of Prop 37, it still stinks like Prop 37, and I'm not about to let that stank fly without doing something about it.
I really did not want something like this to be the reason I come out of my comfy little hood. Well, it is what it is. Candy, need a second?

Neo,
It is good to hear that you are healthy. As those who took part in the town hall meeting last night know, I have already withdrawn my proposition and apologized for the unrest that it has caused; it was certainly never my intention to create such chaos, as I was only looking for a means to address a very serious problem.
Look for a press release tonight from me on an effort to collaborate on a proposal that will address the issue of the Myr'Khulian insurgents in the Old Temple District. Despite personal feelings on the matter of my proposition, this is a very real threat and not one that we should take lightly.
My challenge still stands, though, as a matter of honor.
Sincerely,
Rakeesh Sah Tarna

What about the other districts? Or is it just "Forget them, they're on their own." I said my piece at the meeting so you know my thoughts on it, and I know you don't give a damn either way. So whatever.Rakeesh wrote:

Matter of honor? Your idea of honor is as pale as an albino's skin.
Whatever, DH, I ain't buying into your wretched little fallacy.

I missed that party, but that's good to hear. I am still disappointed that you thought that proposal was a good idea. When you get bad weeds in a garden, you don't run the lawnmower over the whole thing. Nevertheless, it's good to see that you have come to your senses, and not a moment too soon.Rakeesh wrote:Neo,

On this, I certainly agree. Like I said, I was there. In any case, I will continue to stand against preventative approaches like your original proposal; they're too heavy-handed and too sweeping.Look for a press release tonight from me on an effort to collaborate on a proposal that will address the issue of the Myr'Khulian insurgents in the Old Temple District. That's fair. My offer to second still stands because I'd still like to whack you in the head for having terrible ideas. Because that's what friends do.My challenge still stands, though, as a matter of honor.

At the GAC meeting the Lion offered an apology for the harm his proposal caused and sought aid in addressing his concerns. Some might have even been fooled by his show. For me, his current actions put the lie to his words. His apology rings hollow. He seeks to take me to task for defending the rights of those he had been ready to ignore. He desires to fight me for opposing him in his foolishness as though I was not justified in doing it. His interest in removing me over seeking my help show me his request for aid is a secondary thing to him. He presses his challenge for the title and uses whatever reasons he thinks passable to justify this intent.
I accept Rekah's offer to officiate.
I invite any interested parties to come and witness the challenge which will be fought on the sands of the Overlord Island.
Date and time to remain the same--February 17, 2013 at 10 PM.
((OOC Note: We will use the RoH Arena Chatroom but the setting will be the Overlord Island.))

Rakeesh;
The main reason people aren't taking you seriously in this is how you chose to go about it. Because one group is acting up, you decided to target a large segment of the population of the city.
News flash, there are too many people here that have been the victims of such registration schemes. Instead, you should have eaten humble pie to begin with and asked for help. There are plenty out there, some right in your district that would have lent you the aid you need.
But that is on your head. You could not see your way clear to ask for help instead proposing a round of foolishness that has resulted in several deaths.

"All I have to do is change the probability of something bad happening to them but the equations are so damn complex. I could fry everyone if I get this wrong."
Bad Kitty Rakeesh,
Though my hatred of the VILE SNAKE Candy Hart is well known, I still can't allow anyone mine Myria dislikes to do as they wish! I have sacrificed seven baby goats to the Blood God X'guth so that Candy is victorious in her challenge (and seven more so that she drops dead of illness after her victory)!

A copy of a recent press release from the Baron was posted aside the string of notices and scrawl on the challenge boards, unrelated to the challenge in content, but physically close enough to the other pieces of parchment to easily read.

Innocent Maiden Bayliss,
Black ink is far too neutral, you should have used red. I also suggest that the phrase. "( F ) See me after class!" be used.
Rakeesh,
You're a punk, ai-ight? The Crew is coming for you.
Myria, my star, will use your fur as a blanket for our extravagantly large bed.
I now have questions about your demons. For they sound interesting enough for me to attempt summoning on mine own, yet at the same time appear to be the same that come before me during mushroom induced hallucinations -- figments of imaginations.
If they are only spotted by children. How were you able to kill them?
The same above, but for another reason. If only children can see them, how were others able to see the severed heads during your demonstration at the GAC meeting?
Until further proof is given I believe that this is simply a story! Using this in a pathetic bid to gain public support after your failed proposition! Children, along with what goes bump in the night, can easily sway the small minded as they are both primal fears of what hides in the shadows - along with the fears of being unable to continued the legacy of ones family.
THIS IS A FARCE!
I feel far too lucid right now. I need to eat more mushrooms.

Dueling Community At Large!
It appears the true culprit to the mass strings of murder and hysteria has been found out!
Demons? No! Far from it! The labeling of demons as the evil-doers behind these crimes was a ruse, a lie, a falsification to take the eyes of the public off the true monsters lurking in the shadows of the Old Temple District!
I give you proof! The bloody print left behind at the newest gruesome (yet disturbingly hilarious) murder site!
THE TRUE CRIMINALS ARE CHILDREN! Blasted little buggers with their beady little eyes and small, tiny hands.. (that make good slaves for bottling witches brew.)
I urge the RhyDin populous to do away with their children! Cast them from your houses! Anyone under the height of 4 feet must be slaughtered for the betterment of our glorious city!
I will be combing the streets this week and gathering up all children I see!
