I'm all for letting children go at it. With other children. Watching any child get hurt is heartbreaking - especially when their opponent might be someone twice their size and three times stronger. Hopefully, whoever finds themselves opposite of the little girl will hold back enough to not cause serious injury.
Sure, the wards do their job, but pain can be a little scarring to a kid.

Seirichi,
Where was that sentiment when you were cheering Mystic on in the Talon tournament the other night? She was not dueling with other children. Your concern, however, is appreciated.

Overlady Morgan,
I respect your opinion and choice should you opt to not duel against my niece or any other child. No one is required to duel in the rings with anyone, we participate here of our own free will. We are, however, subject to the rules of any tournament we choose to enter or rank we hold.

G,
Dueling against you with a hammer taught me to duck lower and move faster, perhaps, Maggie will learn that as well.

In the end it isn't my decision. Parents should do what they feel is right, I'm not going to step on another mothers toes because she wants her child to participate in this game.
As for Mystic? Little mute girls don't count, she could ruin every single person who plays around in these duels. All joking aside, I was a little iffy about the kid fighting in the tournament but Imp allowed it. I was glad that Aurast was her final fight. He may act like he hates kids but he's a pretty good guy.
Plus if he had hurt her I would of shoved a fist down his throat.
Oh well, if I'm around I'll be sure to cheer the little one on.

With all respect due to the Overlady, but I side with the Harker family and their friends in this. Speaking as one who was raised from infancy in the ways of combat and survival, the age of those entering the tournament should not be the determining factor. I myself have witnessed the young Harker girl dueling several times, and have also dueled the current Talon holder, who is only a few years older. Both are skilled, capable, and honorable opponents, but more importantly I have seen neither of them flinch from a blow or hesitate to deliver one of their own.
I may be no one of rank or import, but I wished to add my opinion and observances to this discussion.

A Jedi should have no possessions. Not even an identity.
