Overall this is an admirable attempt, but there is one thing that has to be clear. There are more problems with the game than a lack of RP storylines.

1. Clearer Rules.
2. Administrative Policy
3. Lack if New Blood and Veterans are leaving in droves.
4. TDL was the main draw for Veterans.
5. IFL. No one offered to help Matt get it running this season.
6. Players love to bitch but fail to offer advice.

and 7. This is the big one that kills plans of this type. There is always a member (or members) who only like you as long as you agree with them. The second you change sides its war.

I'd have to agree with Artemus' points. I don't think people realize
what a blow it was to this forum to lose IFL and TDL. We need the
veterans just as much as we need "new blood" to keep this forum
active.

Again, this is not just about creating roleplay events but about creating a community support system. It's about creating a group to help piece together better language for rules so that they can be brought to the admin or voted on by the community. Maybe we can bounce ideas for advertising off one another. Maybe a name will come up for possible help for Matt for IFL.

This is about working together not apart. Many of us have a good idea pop into our head but don't have enough creative energy to see it through. Many of us see a problem in the rules but aren't great at coming up with concise language that would make it more clear. This group would offer a sound board for ideas, a pool of people who might help you take your idea and make it into a staple in RoH. My hope is that eventually groups will split off to work on different projects that focus on their interests while the committee as a whole remains a strong, positive influence.

All I'm asking for is a group of people that are willing to put aside past issues to be a part of working to better the forum. I'd rather not start a debate of all that's wrong with RoH. There are plenty of threads for that. I'd like to focus on what we can do to improve things in an e-mail group.

There are a lot of valid points here. But again that's why this idea is meant as a supplement.

TDL and IFL are a big loss definitely.

I think a lot of those problems and lack of enthusiasm/participation stem from an overall morale problem here. This idea isn't going to be about tackling all these issues - it's more like Franco wants to start a spirit club and recruit a bunch of RoH cheerleaders to boost everyone's morale about being part of this incredible community!

So did I sign up to the cheer squad with the thought that we're going to fix up every problem? No. But if I can get one person excited about playing here again with a pep rally, what's the harm in that?

This is a baby step. Maybe nothing will come out of it but a few goofy e-mails to each other or maybe we'll draw in a few players new and old by making an atmosphere hospitable to enjoyment. Either way it's worth a try for those who want to break out their pom-poms. But everyone else is free to hang back and go on with what they were doing before.

Because as we all say time and time again at the end of the day this is a game and meant to be enjoyed.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Sorry, I thought this post was lacking in ! now that I've hyped myself up to the idea that I'm a super perky cheerleader)

The Chairman had to step down due to personal issues. Matt needed help running it but I don't believe a reliable person ever stepped forward. The IFL domain has expired, I believe, but I'm guessing that stuff is still around somewhere.

I'd like to be on this mailing list... mostly because I've been MIA lately and want to reintegrate full steam ahead.

Put me down, I just wanted to point out some of the major concerns that could use cheering and an improvement task force.

Thumbs up for the sentiment that inspired this thread.

...so long as you come up with things I agree with. Otherwise I will consider you to have changed sides, war will be declared, and those thumbs shall quickly be turned down. Which means you will die.

I have a question for the administration that I would like answered publicly. If this group comes to any suggestions/ideas to increase participation, will they be carried out and how will this process work?

Bravo! It's high time the players stood up and took responsibility for this game's survival.

Xeric, in answer to your question:

/admin hat on

The Admin team is very pleased to see this positive and inspired step from the players of these games; we encourage more of it! If the committee comes up with ideas that need support or action from the Admins, we'll of course listen to and talk about those ideas with the committe and amongst ourselves.

Right now, we can only speak in a general sense, since each idea will likely have specific requirements or intent. Given that, we can't guarantee we'll implement each one of them or exactly how we'd go about it, but we will assist with and support as many as we can.

/admin hat off
