Character Signature Moves

So, I was curious about something. I've seen mention of various "signature moves" of different characters in various venues. The most recent one that comes to mind for me is seeing mentions of the SimStep (of Simini fame) in play. Anybody want to share some their character's signature moves in any of the venues? I'll start it off.


DoS- FSS. It doesn't have a name, but I generally play it the same way every time. Soerl will sway back, spin to the side, and cut at the other duelist.

DoM- Mind Whip. Instead of a straight psionic attack, Soerl will send a tendril of energy out from one of his sleeves to attack the other duelist.

Fun topic! I'm not sure Lydia's terribly interesting in the duels to have much in the way of signature moves.. hm...

In Duel of Magic, her 'foul fog' spell is sort of unique I think. She uses heat distortion. Like when you see a fire, and above it the air wavers and things seem to distort? It's like that in a big way.

In Duel of Fists... I can't think of anything. Except maybe sometimes when she can pull off Feint Flip she'll sometimes just outright tackle her opponent. XD Haven't done that in a while though.

In Duel of Swords, the only thing that comes to mind is attempting to pants Soerl when she successfully ducks. XD Aside from that, I don't think she has really has a signature swords move.

Then there's the sexcut that I think Elijah coined: six cuts in a row.

Bishoping is something, I don't remember what, and Xenograg had a Darelir manuever that was something like bishoping. One or the other was after your own cut your next move is the opposite parry. Hmm, maybe the other was strategically using the same cut as your opponent (e.g. dual high cuts)

In DoF there's the Percy (named after the SN Percival) where your feint move would have scored had it not been a feint.

And of course, Jake's jab "Punch 'em inna face!"

One of my favorites with double meaning was calling DI DI DI after dual thrusts. Hearing it is like "die, die, die" from both getting skewered with thrusts, and seeing it is DI like disengage, which is what woulda beaten the TH!

In DoM, Tormay uses fairy dust a lot for his foul fog, and his faerie magic for displace. Don't know if that really counts as signature move or anything.

Don't have one for swords yet, just kinda everywhere on the descriptions on his moves for that.

Xenograg does not have a signature move so much as a couple of role-play descriptions used regularly.

Xenograg always begins a (DoS) duel by feinting a thrust.

When leading 4-x, he will raise his sword high with both hands, as if to execute his opponent to win the match with his next hit.

::blinks in surprise at Xeno:: Really? That seems so... violent... LOL.

I'm not sure how the SimStep came to be... I think one of the callers just started using it one night when Simini successfully sidestepped more than once, and it stuck. :) It's just a sidestep.

Once in a while, I might say she's "flashing a bit of ankle as she moves to the side"... that's what I think of as the SimStep.

DoM - Fear Touch - THE SCALY CLAW OF DOOM!!!! Muhuhahahaha!

Consequently, sometimes I'd say "The Scaly Claw of Doom . . . That is all the people need to know!" There was a wrestler from the 70's/80's named Baron Von Raschke who's trademark move was the "Iron Claw", where he would clamp his hand over his opponent's forehead and squeeze their temples with his thumb and pinky. His catchphrase in a German accent was "Dat is all da people need to know!", so there you go.

DoF - When Bran performs a Flip when his opponent Jumpkicks, I have him charge forward and shoulderblock his opponent down to the mat. I got that from "The Prodigal Son", a Sammo Hung movie, where he teaches Yuen Biao's character that technique to deal with aerial kicks.

DoS - Bran does what I like to call the "Yipe and Scamper". Basically, when he successfully sidesteps a thrust, or ducks a high cut, I have him yipe as if he sees the attack coming, then leap (or dive downwards) out of the way as the attack comes towards him.

Thanks for the link to the old thread, Simini.

Elijah's post there answers Napoleon's question better than I can, since he studied under Fandral. I never discussed Fandral's observations and refinements with Fandral.

Given my own improvement in the sports since my last post on this subject, the moves have changed as well.

While Gaia's Fury remains the same, Meteor Show became [Rosario Bombardment] as I play it out as more than just three flaming rocks.

DoF has the fun ones.
Ghost-Kick (Fe. Snapkick): if successful its a fake-snap into a spinkick.

Drum Roll (Fa. Duck): Art does the splits and punches the inner thigh of both his opponents legs.

Johnny Cage ( another duck) : Art does the splits wide, and punchemindanuts. If you really push him.

Pseudo-Simon ( Fa. Dodge): Spin around an attack and back pivot for a reverse elbow instead of a backhand. (Koy was the first victim muahaha)
