The 13th/New Haven has been challenged

Lorance Sneggle is a very stupid man. He is a man who does not know when he is pursuing a lost cause, and he is a man who does not know where the Arena's corkboard is. Therefore, it falls upon me to inform the community that Lorance Sneggle has issued challenge to me for the Thirteenth Baronial Ring, and the jurisdiction over New Haven.

This will be the fourth time he has challenged me, and the first time with the governance of a district on the line. Obviously, it would be horribly irresponsible to let someone like Lorance get to run the wealthiest, most upscale borough of New Rhydin....frankly, the citizenry of New Haven would take me to task if I even let someone like him visit.

I will be announcing the time and date shortly, and I request a caller. The format is undecided at this time.

Geez, how do you insult a legend? Well let me give it a try.

Nope, can't think of anything that won't feed your ego. So on the 6th of February at 8:00 pm. Central time we will debate the issue in more pointed ways.

If I can find my buddy Drey I would ask him to be my second, so if you're out there old buddy let me know. P.S. Drey, sobriety is not a requirement or desired for that matter you do so much better drunk than most non-drinking folks do.

This was an absolutely AWESOME Challenge!

Cass picked best 2 of 3 format. The Overlord Cory was there as the reigning Baron of New Haven, Cassius Maximius, stood beneath his banner of a white flag with an eagle clutching a fasces and the Latin letters SPQR inscribed in gold beneath. Representing His lady of honor Galicia was Baroness Anjolie Quinn-Havoick as proxy for CeeCee, because she is an excellent and loyal friend, and because she vaguely resembles her in body type. His second was Greyson MacLeod.

Capt. Lorance Sneggle, the Warlord and Challenger, dueled with no colors, no lady of honor, and no second this night. The crowd of fans was very small with only G, Rena, and as I mentioned Cory, Grayson, and Anjolie there to watch and cheer.

Now at first Cory did stand up and it looked like he was going to intercede for his Loyal Baron as he has before but Cass told him he was doing best 2 of 3 and Cory went ahead and stood down. That was when the sword fighting started!

Duel 1 Cass got himself out of the way for the first point then they met low. Cass ducked down real low but Lorance stabbed him then Lorance deflected a low cut. Cass immediately turned around with a thrust and deflected a low cut himself! But then Lorance stabbed in before they both got all cautious but then Lorance turned around and tripped up Cass! After that they both braced for blows that never came but it was Lorance who found an opening and cut high for the win in this first duel 5 - 3.

Duel 2 To open this one the Baron scored 4 unanswered points. First by outmanuvering his opponent then by stabbing him outright then by handily defending himself up high and then by deflecting a thrust! However the Warlord was not going to let Cass get away with a shutout because he blocked that slash neat as you please! Not only that but he also got in a thrust next round too. Cass had had enough though and he just flat outmanuvered Lorance again to bring this home for the win in this second duel 5 - 2.

Duel 3 This final deciding duel opened as bloody as I could have wished as they traded cuts high and low for points to each! They paused for breath then Cass parried a low cut from Lorance for a full point. Another little pause then more carnage of the dual thrusting kind this go around! But with a well timed duck the Warlord managed to tie it up and with some fancy stepping even took the lead which he held until the next round in which his stop hit caught Cass' thrust to give us a new Baron of New Haven folks at 5 - 3.

They both fought honorably and very well tonight.

The new Baron of New Haven has declared himself Loyal to the Overlord Cory Havoick and the Overlord has accepted his oath.
