How to Show You're Proud

Post by Anjolie Quinn »

Time apart had certainly taken its toll on their intimate life of late and with the upcoming challenge Anjolie felt somewhat out of place in the scheme of things. The news of her beau's challenge to the Overlord came as a rather pleasant surprise over the past weekend and immediately after hearing of the event the femme knew what she wanted to do to help.

First was the atmosphere. Several of the past challenges Cory had fought were simply spur of the moment for the femme and she never really had time to pull out the red carpet in support. This time would be different. Anjolie had spent enough time delivering all sorts of goodies in town and had passed this custom designs shop at least once a week for the past few months. 0n the next trip to town the femme swung through to grab an order form.

A few days later (and about 4 phone calls to make sure the order was correct) the femme once more stopped by to pick up the forty-some flags she had ordered. The colors included different shades of blue and purple and had the name Havoick steamed on in silver letters. The image of a foot crushing a tick was playing out on the backside of the flags. The magic it took to enchant the image was well worth the final effect in Quinn's humble opinion.

The extra beer needed to cover the crowd Quinn was expecting was picked up on Friday to ensure that they could be stashed in the fridge and ready for the event on Sunday. Almost 100 bottles of Badsider Brew which put the slightest dent in Anjolie's pocket. The beer also gave the femme a sense of confidence. When your local brewer and team captain are the same people you can't help but feel that everything's falling together nicely.

The last little trinket of support and love came with a final trip to town in order to speak with the master smith of the Magical Forge section of the Arcane Lore shop in Old Market. The blacksmith seemed more than happy to fill the order and only charged an extra 10 nobles to get the sword engraved. A beautiful silver blade enchanted to send off bolts of lightening upon contact seemed like it would have a nice effect in the ring and would fit the color scheme of the overall challenge. The words, "Protect the Beloved" were etched in lovely lines along the face of the blade close to the hilt.

Whenever the sword was picked up late Friday night, the femme made sure to take it immediately to the greenhouse and start working with a few little additions of her own. The wards did their jobs perfectly when patrons dueled in the ring... this extra magic would have the same effect on the wielder of the blade outside the rings of natural protection.

In the end, the femme was quite pleased with herself and all the extra effort she put into making this a wonderful experience for Cory. Early in the morning on Saturday she crept out of bed as quietly as possible. The sword was placed in a leaning position against the bedroom door so that he would see it before he came down for breakfast in the morning.

The smells of pancakes, coffee, bacon, biscuits and gravy, and a huge plate of scrambled eggs were well on their way to dancing through the house as a few of the custom made flags were placed in a holder at the center of the table. Everyone at the Golden Sun was given the weekend off and the men were instructed to help Cory in his training in whatever way he requested. All in all, Quinn was sure this was to be a lovely weekend and she looked forward to being there to support her beau come Sunday.
